A furious rally by the Lady Lions fell six points short during a 32-26 loss to Meadville Calvary Baptist at Warren County Christian School.
A slow start was ultimately to blame for the Lady Lions loss as the visiting Thunder forged a nine-point first half lead. That advantage swelled to 15 points in the third quarter before WCCS made its run.
Allyssa Kerr scored six points and Aubree Hendrickson four in the final quarter as the Lady Lions tried to quickly cut into the Meadville lead. All told, WCCS outscored the Thunder 11-2 in the final quarter, getting as close as six points at the final buzzer.

Kane 70, Sheffield 27
A depleted Sheffield's girls basketball team is 1-15 overall after a 70-27 loss to 13-2 Kane Friday at Sheffield High School.
Sheffield was missing its only returning starter from a year ago in senior Kristie Steffan, and illness hit a team playing its third game in four days.
"I will never make an excuse," said Sheffield coach Mike Bancroft. "It is what it is - we didn't rebound well and turned it over too much."
The Wolverines trailed 22-2 after one quarter and 38-11 at halftime.
The Wolverines did not have a player in double figures in scoring.
