Five local students were named to the dean's list at Kent State University for the 2010 fall semester. To be named to the dean's list, full-time students must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or greater. Named were Melanie Park of Russell and Meghan Bogardus, Matthew Branco, Addison Dunn and Angela Gazdak of Warren.

Anderson, Warren, is a bachelor of science degree candidate in welding and fabrication engineering technology, and Matthew D. Kevin Apthorp Jr., son of Kevin Apthorp Sr. and Michelle Apthorp of Warren, has been accepted to the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima, Ohio, to begin classes in August. A student at Warren Area High School, he plans to major in auto and diesel technology.

Nicole Doverspike and Michael Gustafson, both of Warren, have been named to the dean's list for the fall 2010 semester at Alfred State College, Alfred, N.Y. Students from both the Alfred campus and the School of Applied Technology campus in Wellsville are selected for the dean's list if they maintain a 3.50 GPA out of a possible 4.0.
