On Saturday, Jan. 29, Penn State Extension, DCNR Bureau of Forestry, and the Northwest Pa Woodland Association will be hosting a forest landowner conference at Penn State Behrend. The conference will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at REDC Building. The cost is $20 for the first individual and $10 for one additional person. The price includes lunch and refreshments. Pre-registration is required and the deadline to register is Friday, Jan. 21.
The conference this year will offer a wide variety of topics that landowners can apply to their own property. A total of seven different workshops will be offered on topics such that include: Legends and Lore of Plants; Oil, Gas, and Mineral Leasing; Forest Insect Update; Invasive Plants and Their Control; Thinning Your Forest; NRCS Landowner Programs; and Ten Steps to a More Wildlife Friendly Property. Speakers include professionals from Penn State, NRCS, and private consulting foresters.
