Eisenhower’s Lauren Sherry splits two Titusville defenders on her way to the basket in the first half of a girls basketball game Thursday at Eisenhower High School.
"We knew going into this year our region was good," said Warren coach Lisa Ruhlman, "and I think they see right now it's very good."
After winning its first seven games, Warren is now 7-3 and 0-2 in Region 6. North East is 9-2 and 3-0 and in first place in the region. Mercyhurst Prep and Corry are each 2-0 in Region 6.
"We know that (North East is) notorious for runs, and it was 7-4 with between three and four minutes to go in the first quarter. Next thing I know, it's 18-4," said Ruhlman.
Emily Sherman led Warren with 14 points. Alex Artise had a double-double for North East with 12 points and 10 rebounds; a smaller North East team outrebounded Warren. Jessa Tinko had 19 points and three of North East's seven 3-pointers.
"We need to fix some things," said Ruhlman, whose Dragons committed a season-high 22 turnovers.

Titusville 36, Eisenhower 29
A tale of two halves.
Unfortunately for the Eisenhower girls basketball team, its "worst of times" came in the third quarter as the Knights were outscored 15-2 by visiting Titusville, at Eisenhower High School.
The Knights took control in the first quarter, limiting the Rockets to just one field goal, and a late 3-pointer from Alli Blanco gave Eisenhower an 8-2 lead going into the second period. Eisenhower took full advantage of Titusville's foul troubles, the Rockets had five team fouls in the first quarter, and was able to work the ball inside to get some good looks at the basket. Titusville was able to connect on two 3-pointers to cut into the Eisenhower lead, but the Knights still led at the half 19-14.
Then it was the Rockets' turn.
Titusville opened the third quarter on an 8-0 run to take a 22-19 lead from the Knights. Eisenhower's lone field goal in the quarter was answered by a 7-0 Titusville run as the Rockets took a 29-21 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Knights also found themselves in foul trouble early, and had already put the Rockets into the bonus with seven team fouls.
"I think (the fouls) were a sign of us being tired," said Eisenhower coach Dave Allenson. "You foul when you don't move your feet, and we weren't moving our feet."
The Knights made a comeback push late in the fourth quarter, cutting the Rockets lead to five with just over a minute to play, but couldn't get any closer as Titusville kept the ball in the hands of its best free throw shooters.
"The girls we wanted to foul (at the end) didn't touch the ball," Allenson said.
Lauren Blanco led the Knights with 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
"Lauren Blanco had an outstanding game," Allenson said.
Lyssa Knapp, Alli Blanco and Lauren Sherry each added three points for Eisenhower, with Sherry and Knapp contributing seven and five rebounds, respectively.
Titusville won the junior varsity game 30-17. Courtney Flynn led the JVs with eight points.
