District schedule
Monday, Jan. 17, there is no school scheduled in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Monday, Jan. 24, is scheduled to be a Warren County School District Professional Day for teachers with no classes for students.

Library quilt
The Sugar Grove Library is holding a quilt raffle to benefit the library. Tickets to win this beautiful quilt may be purchased at the Library.
While the winter winds blow outside, sports are heating up at EMHS. Join us for the following activities. Tonight the Boys Varsity Wrestling Tournament in Falconer, N.Y. begins at 3 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 15th the Falconer Wrestling Tournament continues at 9 a.m. The Boys Junior High Wrestling team will compete at Port Allegany at 9 a.m. The Girls Junior Varsity Basketball will take on McDowell at home and the Boys Varsity Basketball team will travel to Titusville for a 6 p.m. game.
On Monday, Jan. 17 the Girls Varsity Basketball team will travel to Hickory High School for a 6 p.m. tip off.
On Tuesday, Jan. 18 the Boys Varsity Basketball will be at home with a game against Conneaut Lake beginning at 6 p.m. with the JV game.
Wednesday, Jan. 19 the Girls Lady Knights Basketball will have an early game against Tidioute. At 4 p.m. the Boys junior high Basketball will travel to Beaty for a match up and the at 6 p.m. you can see the Knights Varsity Wrestling Team take on North East in the EMHS gymnasium.
Pre-school year
registration
The Imaginative Preschool in Sugar Grove will be taking applications for their fall classes 2011-2012 classes. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Children must be three on or before Sept. 1 to enter the 3-year-old class. Children must be four on or before Sept. 1 to enter the 4-5 year old class. A tour of the class room and a chat with the teachers can be arranged by contacting the school at 489-3105. The preschool classes are in session each year September through May.
Concert
The Eisenhower Midwinter Band Concert featuring the concert bands of EMHS under the direction of Mark Napolitan will be Thursday, Jan. 20 in the EMHS Auditorium. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and is open to public. There is no cost for the concert, but a donation at the door is appreciated.

Concert
The Warren County School District will be sending students from EMHS to participate in the PMEA Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District Choral event this week. Students selected this year to represent EMHS are Andrew Childs, Kate Ewer, Paul Johnson, Kelsey Angove, and Brent Foster. The students auditioned and rehearsed Wednesday evening through Friday evening's 7:30 p.m. concert. The event this year will be held at McDowell Intermediate High School in Erie. They have been conducted by John Goldsmith from the University of Pittsburgh. Tickets are sold to the general public for this evening's concert.
Knitting classes
Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. the Sugar Grove Free Library is holding Knitting Classes. The next session will begin Jan. 12. Register Early by calling the Library. Classes will be held Jan. 12, 19, 26 and Feb. 2. The fee is $35, payable prior to first class. For more information, stop by the Library.
Food Pantry
Many area volunteers, businesses, and organizations have donated to refill our local Sugar Grove Food Pantry. The food pantry is daily in operation to help out those in need in the Sugar Grove Community. If you are in need of food items this holiday season, please contact the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church at 489-3105 for information on how you can make an appointment with a volunteer who can assist you in receiving needed food items.
Community
lunch schedule
A community lunch is provided at the local area churches. The first Friday of each month lunch is provided at the Mission Covenant Church. The 2nd Thursday lunch is provided at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church. The third Wednesday lunch is provided at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church. All lunches begin at 1:30 a.m. and everyone is welcome to attend.
Cooking class
ARAMARK Food Services, the Food Service Company for the Warren County School District will provide their Jan. Community Cooking Class on Thursday, Jan. 20. Everyone in the community is invited to attend the cooking class. There is no charge, we do just ask that you register ahead of time by calling 723-6900 ext 2145. More than 70 adults and students attended the Holiday Class in November. This class will have the theme, "Southern Cooking" and have recipes, tips, hands on cooking segments, and samples to taste. This month's class will be held at the Beaty Warren Middle School starting at 6 p.m. Other classes for the remainder of the school year will be held March 22nd - All About Potatoes and May 19th - Summer BBQ Grilling. Sign up for just one or all the free classes held this school year.
Quilt raffle
There is a fundraising Raffle at the Sugar Grove Free Library to benefit the library operations. The quilt is a queen size sunflower patters donated by Linda Kane Eckman owner of Creative Threads of Frewsburg, NY. Donations for raffle tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. The drawing will be held February 28, 2011. For more information stop in the Library.
