BOYS HOOPS: Fort LeBoeuf free throws seal Region 7 win over Warren

WATERFORD - All four of Warren's Region 7 games have been close, yet the Dragons are 1-3 after a 65-57 loss at Fort LeBoeuf on Thursday.

Warren and LeBoeuf were tied with around three minutes left, "but we could not get a stop down the stretch," said Warren coach Jeff Berdine. "And they were money in the fourth quarter at the free throw line."

Fort LeBoeuf, which is 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the region, was 25-of-32 at the free throw line for the game, and 11-of-13 at the line in the 25-15 LeBoeuf fourth quarter.

Berdine told his players, "'We're going to win of we defend and we rebound,' and the defense and rebounding let us down," he said.

Tyler Fantaskey had a team-high 19 points and six rebounds For Warren, Hank Morrison had eight rebounds and Preston McMeans 12 points.

Joel Stewart had four assists.

Warren is 7-3 overall and 1-3 in the region. The Dragons are next at Oil City on Saturday afternoon.

Mark Davis led Warren to a 40-32 junior varsity win with 17 points.

Calvary Baptist 71, TCCS 38

The Tidioute Bulldogs dropped a 71-38 decision at the hands of the Thunder Thursday to remain winless.

With the score 11-7 midway through the first, the Thunder of Calvary Baptist went on a 10-2 run to finish the quarter up 21-9. Tidioute rebounded with a strong second, 14-11, but was outscored 36-18 in the second half to seal the defeat. Tidioute struggled to control the ball, committing many turnovers throughout the night.

"We played hard, but our inability to finish under the hoop hurt us," said TCCS coach Dave Manning. "We probably gave up 40 points under the hoop or within 10 feet."

Matt Brown didn't have his best shooting night but did still lead the Bulldogs with 11 points. Shaun Sitterley who "did a nice job," according to Manning, finished with 10 points on the night. Manning also noted that Calvin Marsh, who finished with seven points, had a "really nice game and stepped up tonight."

Tidioute drops to 0-8 with the loss and will try to get its first win of the season on Saturday night at Iroquois.

The Bulldogs pulled out the J.V. game with a 14-point fourth quarter to win 33-27. Pat Haney and Kendrick Morrison scored 12 points each in the victory.
