Chautauqua Chamber Singers will present "Twelfth Night - A Celebration of Light" at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 200 Market St., Warren. Pre-sale admission is $10 ($8 for seniors and $5 for students) and is available in the church office. Twelfth Night traditionally marks the 12th Day of Christmas and the beginning of Epiphany.
Currently directed by Rebecca Ryan, the Chautauqua Chamber Singers was formed in 1978 by a group of singers looking for a small ensemble with which to sing, other that in their church choirs.
Over the past 31 years, it has evolved into an auditioned only, semi-professional group. Members are individuals with diverse musical backgrounds, talents and training from all over Chautauqua County.
Repertoire spans Elizabethan to 21st century music, classical to pop. Under the umbrella of Community Music Project, Inc., the Chautauqua Chamber Singers perform three to four concerts a year, including their "Twelfth Night" concert, which has become a traditional ending to the holiday season for many in the area.
