BOYS HOOPS: WCCS gets first win

January 5, 2011
The Times Observer

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - Warren County Christian School earned its first victory of the season Tuesday with a 48-36 victory over Jamestown Bethel.

It should come as little surprise that, in the victory, the Lions had their best shooting night of the season.

"We spent most of the holiday break working on shooting drills and we raised our shooting percentage tonight," said WCCS coach Steve Zwald. "Andrew Hammersley and Carson Moore also did a great job on the boards and we continue to cut down on our turnovers."

Hammersley had a monster game for WCCS, contributing 17 points and 16 rebounds. Andrew Laird added 13 points and Carson Moore ripped down 14 boards.

The Lions also won the junior varsity game, 24-20. Josh Wagonseller scored 13 points for the winners.

WCCS (1-3) returns to action Friday, hosting Christian Life Academy.
