UNION CITY - Passive aggressive.
Eisenhower's performance Friday was a little bit of both as the Knights dropped a 62-53 decision to Union City at Union City High School.
" We came out very passive in the first half and let them build an 18-point lead that I wasn't very happy with," said Ike coach Steve Norris. "We made some adjustments at halftime and played more aggressively in the second half where we were able to close the gap."

Youngsville’s D.J. Rose (32) puts in a layup over two Linesville defenders while Broc Horn (13) looks on during a high school boys basketball game Friday at Youngsville High School. Linesville defeated Youngsville, 58-29.
The Knights trailed 37-19 at halftime, but switched to a man-to-man defense in the second half. The change worked and the Knights slowly closed into the Bears' lead. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Tre Frank and Austin Schwanke in the closing minutes got the Knights within six, but they would get no closer.
Josh Deppas scored 18 points to lead the Eisenhower effort. Frank and Colin Shine added eight points each and Colin Shine and Ryan Williams chipped in five points apiece.
Eisenhower won the junior varsity contest, 56-38. Nathan O'Brien scored 12 points and Schwanke added 11 markers in the victory.

Linesville 58, Youngsville 29
Youngsville's boys basketball team was held without a field goal in the second quarter and the Eagles dropped a 58-29 decision to visiting Linesville Friday at Youngsville High School.
The Eagles opened the game with a 6-2 run, but the Lions were able to come back and briefly take the lead at 10-8 before Tim Snavley hit a field goal just before the end of the period to tie the game at 10-10.
Linesville dominated play in the second quarter as Dustin Buchanan took control under the basket and allowed the Lions to get numerous second-chance opportunities. The Eagles couldn't get any of their shots to fall and were held scoreless until Caleb Linkerhof hit two free throws with 37 seconds left in the half to end the drought. Linesville took a 24-12 lead into halftime.
"It was 10-10 after the first, and then the lid went on the basket," said Youngsville coach Ray Neidrick. "I give Linesville credit, their defense was tough, plus they had a good guy (Buchanan) getting all the rebounds. We had trouble stopping him all night."
Buchanan led all scorers with 26 points.
The Lions were able to dictate the pace in the second half as they ran their halfcourt offense almost flawlessly, and outscored the Eagles 34-17 in the half.
"We've got to get more disciplined in our offense, be a little more patient and take better shots," Neidrick said.
Linkerhof led the Eagles with 13 points, connecting on two 3-pointers in the second half.
"(Linkerhof) has been my seventh man, but after tonight I think he's going to have a lot more time," Neidrick said. "His offense helps us a lot, we needed that spark."
Nathan Smith added nine points for Youngsville while Billy Chuzie chipped in three and D.J. Rose and Snavley both had two.

JOHNSONBURG - Just days after scoring 29 points in a single quarter, Sheffield managed just 26 points in the entire game during a 61-26 loss to Johnsonburg on Friday.
"We were just ice cold. There's nothing else to say really," said Sheffield coach Todd Fitch. "We finished the game with just 15 rebounds and we can't have that. We need much better play inside if we're going to compete and win."
Brendan Winslow led the cold Sheffield offense with 10 points. George Fitch, Mark Sprandle and Dylan McNeal all chipped in four points apiece in the loss.
The Wolverines (2-2) are back in action Monday when they host Austin. They then visit Otto-Eldred on Wednesday.

WEST HICKORY - The Tidioute Community Charter School boys basketball team continues to go through growing pains.
Second chance opportunities and missed scoring chances cost the Bulldogs in a big way during a 50-26 loss to West Forest on Friday.

Matt Brown scored 11 points for Tidioute as the team dropped to 0-4 on the season. Shaun Sitterley added seven points and Kendrick Morrison added four more.
