Linesville used a 14-3 first-quarter run to put Youngsville in a hole it couldn't climb out of as the visiting Lions defeated the Lady Eagles 63-35 Thursday at Youngsville High School.
Youngsville was able to match the up-tempo pace of Linesville through most of the first quarter, taking the lead at 6-5. That was as close as the Lady Eagles would get for the rest of the game. Linesville started its run by outscoring Youngsville 14-0 before Amber Fox hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to make it 19-9 at the end of the first.
The early part of the second quarter mirrored the first as the Lady Eagles were able to match the Lady Lions bucket for bucket, but couldn't cut into the lead. Linesville was able to capitalize on some turnovers late in the period to widen the margin and take a 44-22 lead into the half.

"Their press pretty much killed us," Youngsville coach Allison Kitchel said. "We just weren't moving to the ball."
The third quarter was all Linesville as the Lady Lions held Youngsville to only three points in the period, while scoring 17.
Neither team was able to muster much offense in the fourth quarter until Youngsville went on a 10-2 run in the final 2 minutes.
"My team hustled and that's what I expect," Kitchel said.
Kitchel added that her young squad still has some room to grow.
"There are places we need to improve, especially in our passing," said Kitchel, whose Eagles are 1-2. "We just have to keep our heads up and keep going."

Saegertown 23, Eisenhower 18
Eisenhower jumped out to a 4-2 lead after the first quarter against Saegertown at home on Thursday night, but was out scored 21-14 the rest of the way. Saegertown secured the 23-18 Region 3 victory over the 1-2 Lady Knights.
Things started out very slowly as neither team was able to get on the scoreboard until two-and-a-half minutes into the contest. Eisenhower got the early 2-0 advantage. The lead would be stretched to 4-0 a minute later. Saegertown got its only basket of the quarter with 19 seconds left in the first.
In the second, Saegertown dominated, shutting out the Lady Knights for the quarter. The six-point effort in the second gave them a four-point lead at the break.
The Lady Panthers extended their lead to five after three quarters and to six with two minutes remaining in the contest. Lauren Blanco hit one of two free throws to cut the lead to five and, on their next possession, Kari Santo found Lauren Sherry under the basket for the Knights. Sherry put it in and cut the lead to three. That was as close as the Knights would get as Saegertown hit two free throws with 20 seconds left to spread the lead.
Lady Knights coach Dave Allenson noted after the contest that there were only six girls available tonight with varsity time but, for "being as young as they are, they executed the game plan really well," he said. "If we had been a little more aggressive on offense, we might have done better."
He added that his team put forth a "valiant effort" to make it close, but came up just short. Blanco and Santo paced the Knights with five points each.
Eisenhower lost the J.V. contest, 37-11. Brooke Stanton led the Knights in defeat with five points.
