Andrea (Okruch) Bankoski graduated from George Mason University in May 2010 with a master of public health (MPH) degree and a specialization in epidemiology and biostatistics. Bankoski has held positions in research with Harvard Medical School, National Institutes of Health, Institute of Medicine, and the Virginia Department of Health. Her research studies focused on a wide range of health topics and have been published in the following medical journals: International Health, Diabetes Care, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, and Chilena de Nutricion. This year, she collaborated to complete a World Health Organization report titled "The Global Prevalence of Hepatitis A Virus Infection and Susceptibility: A Systematic Review."

She is employed as the state asthma epidemiologist at the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene where she analyzes and reports on state surveillance data and acts as the program data liaison between Maryland and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Bankoski is the daughter of Russell residents Edward and Mary Jane Okruch.

Jamestown Business College, Jamestown, N.Y., has announced the president's and dean's lists for the fall 2010 term.

Named to the president's list with a grade average of 3.90 - 4 were Anneliese M. Bailey, Youngsville; Elke A. Elder, Warren; Mindy L. Glotz, Sugar Grove; Amy Gustafson, Warren; Patrick L. Jordan, Warren; Meloniey A. Koebley; Tiffany M. Morgan, Warren; Kesha N. Silvis, Warren; Jared W. Strickland, Russell; and Pamela S. Wimer, Clarendon.

Named to the dean's list with a grade average of 3.6 to 3.89 were Deborah A. Heenan, Warren; Lois M. Heffner, Warren; and Nicole M. Silvis, Sheffield.

Amanda Rice of Warren has been selected to participate as student ambassador in the People to People Program to China in July 2011. The 17-day trip will include stops at multiple locations, home stay in a village,, volunteer work at local school and a visit to the Great Wall. Rice is a sophomore at Warren Area High School. She participates in the marketing program at the Warren County Career Center, cheerleadering, and orchestra.

Brendan Scott Lyle, a freshman at Mercyhurst College, has earned a 4.0 grade for the 2010 fall term. Lyle is majoring in intelligence studies and is a member of Mercyhurst's Fencing Club, Competitive Intelligence Club, is vice president of the philosophy club, and is pledging Mercyhurst's Ambassadors Club. A 2010 graduate of Warren Area High School, he is the son of Gregory and Pamela Bonace Lyle.
