December 9, 2010
Times Observer

Tidioute - Oil wells on east side of Triumph Hill near Tidioute in 1871. Here the oil bearing rock is of unusual thickness and has proved to be one of the most productive oil developments ever discovered. The first flowing oil well in the area was drilled on Route 62 by C. L. Hequembourg on May 13, 1860. Courtesy of the Warren County Historical Society
