The Times Observer

The Pa. State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (PSAHPERD) held its annual convention at Seven Springs Resort in Champion on Nov. 11 through Nov. 14. PSAHPERD is the professional association for kindergarten-through-university teachers and community agents who work in related disciples.

Approximately 900 participants were able to attend over 100 presentations and gather information from 40 educational-resource exhibitors. Rick Potts of the National Park Service delivered the keynote address. Presenters included representatives from all levels of education, including the Pennsylvania Department of Education, universities, teachers, and K-12 programs.

Warren resident Jim Roberts, PhD. from Edinboro University, and Scott Kieffer, EdD. from Messiah College gave a presentation titled Undergraduate Research from A to Z. Roberts can be reached at jroberts@edinboro.edu for more information regarding the presentation and other details of the convention.

This conference provides in-service experience for Pa. teachers that counts towards the required 180-hours of in-service training required every five years to maintain teacher certification.
