Holiday Treasure Sale

The Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will be holding its annual holiday Treasure Sale, formerly known as the Santa Sale, on Saturday, Nov. 20, in the Educational Building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus are scheduled to appear and spend some time in Sugar Grove.

There are toys, decorations, food gift items, craft items, baked goods and so much more to see. In addition to all the items adults can purchase, there will also be a kids korner table. The table provides a place for little ones to shop alone for family members for gifts. Everything in the children's section will be priced under $1. Gift wrapping will be provided for them.

Knight Time drama
The Knight Time Players will present their fall drama, “The Butler Did It”, in the Eisenhower auditorium on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19-20, at 7 p.m.

You can also stop by and purchase lunch or take home goodies from the variety of homemade holiday cookie and candy sale. The event is sponsored by the United Methodist Church Parsonage Club.

Knight Time Drama

The Knight Time Players will present their fall drama, "The Butler Did It", a murder mystery by Tim Kelly on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19-20. The play will be presented in the Eisenhower auditorium at 7 p.m.

Craft and Vendor Show

The Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department will be the place for the Holiday Craft and Vendor show on Saturday, Nov. 20. There are more than a dozen vendors scheduled to be on hand for the sale.

Show in the Valley

The Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church will be having a Rummage and Bake Sale on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will also be a lunch of sloppy joes and soup available. For further information, contact Tammy at 563-9429.

Soups and Citrus Sale

The Eisenhower Choir Support Club is taking orders for soup and citrus now through Friday, Nov.19. This is the only fundraiser for the group this year. Anyone in the community may order from choir families or you can place an order by calling Cindy Strickland at 757-8416. The group is selling Cooke Tavern Soup mixes at $7 each or 3 for $20 and Indian River Groves oranges, grapefruit, and tangelos at $22 for a 20-lb. carton, $33 for a 40-lb. carton or a mixed carton at an additional charge of $2 or $3.

Soup delivery will be the week after Thanksgiving. All citrus orders will be delivered Dec. 10.

Preschool Thanksgiving

Sunday, Nov. 21 will be the Annual Imaginative Preschool Thanksgiving Dinner for students and their families.

Hessel Valley Lutheran Church in Chandlers Valley will be holding a traditional Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25. There will be one sitting at 1 p.m. The dinner is served family style and everyone is invited to come.

As in past years, there is no charge for the dinner. Reservations must be made by Nov. 24 by calling 489-3619 or 726-1519.

Sugar Grove Christmas

A Sugar Grove Christmas is happening on Friday, Dec. 10, beginning at 5 p.m.

Sugar Grove businesses and groups are coming together again to make a memorable evening for children of all ages. Come on out and see all the decorated and living windows, take part in the merchant drawings and give-aways, enjoy music of the season, see art exhibits, live animals and more. Dress warm and walk through the beautifully decorated town and visit the merchants for a variety of Christmas fun and activities.

The AMVETS/Ladies Auxiliary has reserved a place in the Sugar Grove park for Santa Claus. He will be arriving with the help of the Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department. Mrs. Claus will be on hand to read stories at the Sugar Grove Free Library. There will be Christmas costumed characters throughout the town and many businesses already on the holiday schedule.

There will be surprises if you stop by Hebner's Towne Styling, Wilcox Brothers, American Legion, Schuylers, The OutPost, Linda York Craft Store, The Bucket, Town and Country, The Laundromat, The Sugar Shack, the Sugar Grove Borough Building, Dream Fabrics, Sonny Anderson's, Dave Bauer and Dave Williams offices, Jim Widrig Car Wash, and McKinney Funeral Home.

Eisenhower Middle High School will display an art exhibit, Catering Plus will be on hand with cookie decorating, PNC Bank will have hot chocolate and cookies, Scouting groups will be on hand with activities through the streets. A hay ride will be provided by Bill Gourley. The Presbyterian Church will be holding winter games. The United Methodist Church will have a holiday display, the Free Methodist Church singers will once again be caroling from the second story of the Bucket. The Warren County Dairy Association will have special surprises in town, too.

Other activities and businesses are still planning additional events. If businesses did not get a chance to bring their suggestions and plans to the organizational meetings, contact Judy Fry so organizers have an event record of all the businesses that are hosting events, give-aways, and activities.
