Thomas G. Shoemaker, 72, of Tidioute Towers, Tidioute, PA, and formerly of Natrona Heights, PA died Tuesday morning, November 16, 2010 at his home. He was born in Natrona Heights October 21, 1938, a son of the late Harry and Louise C. Halgert Shoemaker and had lived in the Tidioute area for more than forty years. Prior to retirement he had been a steel worker at the National Forge Company in Irvine, PA.
He had served in the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1961. He was a former member of the Tidioute Lions Club, and a Life Member of the Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department. He loved hunting and fishing and was very active in the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament.
He is survived by two daughters, Autumn Shoemaker and companion Ken Martin, of Coudersport, PA, Mrs. Mike (Heather) Henderson, Tidioute, PA, two sons, Adam Shoemaker and his wife Sue, Tarpon Springs, FL, Forest Shoemaker and his wife Shannah, San Jacinto, CA, two sisters, Janet Beresik and Karen Malinoski, both of Natrona Heights, PA, five brothers, Ken Shoemaker, Mars, PA, Clark Shoemaker and Jay Shoemaker, both of Natrona Heights, PA, Barry Shoemaker, Marienville, PA, Alan Shoemaker, Erie, PA and eight grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
Friends will be received at the James M. Higgins Funeral Home, 3 Elm Street, Tidioute, PA, Thursday, November 18th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service to be conducted in the Tidioute Fire Hall, Friday morning, November 19th, at 11:00 O'clock, with Rev. Dale Timco of the Allegheny Bible Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Swedish Union Cemetery, Tidioute, PA.
Following the service in the cemetery, a dinner will be served at the Tidioute fire hall.
The family suggests that Memorials be made to either the Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department or Hospice.
