ALLAN SAMPSON

Allan Alexander Sampson, 89, of South Main Street, Russell, PA, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Rouse Home.

Mr. Sampson was born December 7, 1920, in Warren, the son of the late Clarence and Anna Anderson Sampson. Allan was a 1939 graduate of Warren High School and then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, having served on DDay in the Invasion of Normandy. Allan then worked at GTE Sylvania as an electrician for many years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Warren, where he served on the church council, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Allan enjoyed the outdoors, hockey, ice skating, and football, especially the Buffalo Bills. Allan loved his family and was always willing to help. He will deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Wilkins Sampson whom he married on October 27, 1944; two daughters, Nancy Sampson, Warren, and Pamela Sudul, Las Vegas, NV.; three granddaughters Kelly Hernandez and her husband Israel, Las Vegas, Michelle Esbar and her husband Michael, Albuquerque, N.M., and Lisa Parsons and her husband Kevin, Kennett Square, PA; seven greatgrandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Tyler, Alexis, Madyson, Emma, and Hayden and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Wall, and three brothers, Martin, Ray and Norman Sampson and his great grandson Liam Robert Parsons.

A brief calling will be observed prior to a funeral service to be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 11, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 306 Conewango Ave., Warren, with Rev. Beth Costlow, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 306 Conewango Ave. Warren, PA., 16365 or the Warren County Humane Society, Elm St., Warren, PA. 16365.

The Peterson Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, PA. is entrusted with arrangements.
