and Book Sale
The Sugar Grove Free Library is once again planning to have another successful 5th Annual Soup, Dessert and Book Sale Fundraiser. It will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 2 (Election Day) from 11 a.m.until supplies are gone.

Junior District Chorus

This year the types of soups will be a choice of the favorite cheesy potato or the delicious vegetable beef. There will also be bread, crackers and a choice of dessert, donated by some of our best hometown bakers. You may eat it at the library or take it to go.
There will also be a huge book sale with many books and audio-visual materials to browse through. The cost of the dinner and the book sale is just a donation to the library with our thanks. If you would like more information, or would be interested in donating, baking, or volunteering at the fundraiser, please contact the library staff at 489-7872.
Parent Teacher
Conference Day
The Warren County School District will be holding its fall Parent Teachers Conference Day on Monday, November 11th. Contact your child's school ahead of time to schedule your appointment to speak with teachers. There will be no regular classes scheduled for students on this day.
Halloween Parade
The Community is invited to come out and view the Annual Sugar Grove Elementary School Parade on Friday, October 29th. The parade will begin at the school at 1:00 p.m. Students in their finest Halloween costumes will parade around the block.
Fall Holiday
Cooking Class
ARAMARK Food Services, the Food Service Company for the Warren County School District will provide a Fall Community Cooking Class on Thursday, November 11th. Everyone in the community is invited to attend the cooking class. There is no charge, we do just ask that you register ahead of time by calling 723-6900 ext 2145. More than 50 people turned out for the first class of the year on Fall Comfort Foods. This class will have the theme, "Your Holiday Dinner" and have recipes, tips, hands on cooking segments, and even holiday tips all designed to make your Holiday dinner this year special. This month's class will be held at the Beaty Warren Middle School starting at 6 p.m. Other classes for the school year will be Jan. 20, Southern Cooking, March 22, All About Potatoes, and May 19, Summer BBQ Grilling. Sign up for just one or all the free classes held this school year.
Turkey Party
The Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their Annual Turkey Party on Saturday, Nov. 6. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the party will begin at 7 p.m.
Junior District Chorus
The Eisenhower Middle Senior High School will be represented this year at PMEA (Pennsylvania Music Education Association) Junior District Chorus by Dora Turner, Michael Spencer, Sharon Harrington, and Riley Alstad. They will join talented singers from Erie, Crawford, and Warren County Schools on Nov. 5 and 6 at Westlake Middle School in Erie. After rehearsal time, the group will present a concert on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 6 beginning at 2 p.m. in the Westlake Auditorium. This year's Junior Chorus event is under the direction of Ms. Jean Verdecchia. Congratulations to the talented students selected to represent our school.
Soups and Citrus Sale
The Eisenhower Choir Support Club is taking orders for Soup and Citrus now through November 15th. This is the only fundraiser for the group this year. Anyone in the community may order from choir families or you can place an order by calling Cindy Strickland at 757-8416. The group is pleased this year to sell delicious and nutritious Cooke Tavern Soup mixes at $7 each or 3 for $20 and Indian River Groves oranges, grapefruit, and tangelos at $22 for a 20 lb. carton, $33 for a 40 lb. carton or a mixed carton at an additional charge of $2-$3. Soup delivery will be the week after Thanksgiving. All Citrus orders will be delivered December 10th.
Tyler Smith Benefit
Thank you to all those who, volunteered their time, talents, or donated items on Sunday, October 24th at the Community Benefit for Tyler Smith. Thank you also to the many members of the community who came out to support this cause.
Tyler is the son of Darcy and Steve Smith who was injured in a motorcycle accident. Tyler has a long road of recovery ahead of him and is currently still in the hospital in Pittsburgh. All proceeds from the day will go to help the Smith family with medical and travel expense at this time.
Trick-Or -Treating
The Sugar Grove Borough Council has set Halloween trick-or-treating time for Sunday, Oct. 31st from 68 p.m. Trick-or-treaters are asked to stop at only those homes with the porch lights on. Enjoy the holiday.
Preschool
Halloween Parties
The Annual Fall/Halloween Parties for the classes at the Imaginative Preschool in Sugar Grove will be held today. Families can stop by can see their preschool costume parade prior to the start of their class party. Weather permitting the parades will be outdoors in the SGFM Praise Pavilion.

Story hour
Fall Story Hour at the Sugar Grove Free Library has come to a close for the fall. Thank you to all those who attended this year's program. Story hour ran from Oct. 7-28.

Fall sports
Fall Sports Action is coming to a close and there are only a dew chances to get out and support the local high teams in action. There are some exciting events you can attend to support the Blue and Gold this week. The EMHS Varsity Football team will not have a Friday night game. They played Sagertown in a great match up last evening. Tonight you can catch the Girls Volleyball Team when they take on Titusville at 6 p.m. at EMHS in the gym.
Saturday, Oct. 30, EMHS will be host to the Annual Logue Invitational Junior High Girls Basketball Tournament. Come on out for a complete day of Basketball excitement. The Tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Also on Saturday the Varsity Cross Country will take part in the District 10 meet starting at 9 a.m., the Junior Varsity Football Team will travel to Sagertown for a game starting at 10 a.m. and the Boys Junior Varsity Soccer team will play in the McDowell Invitational which begins at 11 a.m.
Monday, Nov. 1, the Varsity Volleyball team will play in Oil City at 6 p.m. Thursday, November 4th the Junior High Football team will take on Union City in a home game starting at 5 p.m. Next Friday, you can catch the EHS Knights football team in action against Union City in a away match up and Saturday, Nov. 5, the JV Knights will take on the JV Union City team at home beginning at 5 p.m.
Basket raffle
The Eisenhower Knights Football Cheerleaders are currently having a "Basket Raffle" fundraiser. There are 10 baskets for you to choose from. The tickets are $1 each. The Tickets are being sold by each Varsity and Jr. High Cheerleaders as well as at the home Varsity games, at both entrance gates.
The Basket Themes are as follows: #1- EHS Pride , #2- Date Night, #3 - Eisenhower Pride, #4 Steelers, #5 - Family Fun. #6 - Pamper Me, #7- Car Care, #8- The Great Outdoors, #9 - Kids Fun, and #10- Sweet Temptations.
Drawings for the baskets will be held at the November Cheer Exhibition. Christmas planning
All Sugar Grove Businesses and groups are invited to take part in the Annual Sugar Grove Christmas Walk. We had so much fun last year everyone wants to do it again. The date set for the Christmas Walk is Friday, Dec. 10, from 5 7 p.m. It will be up to the establishment to decide the activity they would like to have for example Living Window, Snacks, Activities, etc. The AMVETS/Ladies Auxiliary has reserved a place in the Sugar Grove park for Santa Claus.
If you did not get a chance to bring all your suggestions and plans to our organizational meeting, please contact Judy Fry so we have an event record of which businesses are hosting events and activities. There will be one more meeting to organize the event and it will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. at the Sugar Grove Borough Building.
