‘Triple Bloom’ set for Nov. 4

Warren Garden Club will host its seventh biennial "Triple Bloom" from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Warren Holiday Inn. Featured speakers for the day will be Josie Gerardi, a local gardening expert, and On Thai, a well-known floral designer from Schenectady, N.Y.

Gerardi will present the morning program, "Creative Garnishes." She graduated from Mansfield University with a degree in home economics and received a master's degree in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Gerardi is multi-talented , and coordinators say this will be a fun, interesting program.

Thai, a creative and unique designer, will provide the afternoon program. Owner of Surroundings Floral Studio, he has designed for many well-known celebrities including Calvin Klein, the Prince of Dubai, Luciano Pavarotti and Mary Lou Whitney. Thai has been a certified lifetime member of the American Institute of Floral Designers since 1990 and is active in local and regional competitions. He has won numerous awards including Teleflora's People's Choice Award and Best of Show in the Albany International Flower Show, winning best in show award five years running. His creative use of more than 5,000 roses in a design for Seagroatt Richard Wholesale won him best in show at the Northeast Floral Show for eight consecutive years. In New York's capital region he designed the floral decor for the Travers Ball during the Saratoga racing season.

Josie Gerardi will present ‘Creative Garnishes’

On Thai has demonstrated at various Federated Garden Club events in Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and has executed a design presentation at the Arboretum at Hofstra University, Long Island, N.Y., and the Garden Club of America is Seattle, Wash.

On Thai has taught and demonstrated contemporary designs at the Club in the Park, an important garden in the United Kingdom. He also designs for catalogs and designed the florals for the ad campaign for W.J. Cowee Inc., a manufacturer of wood products used in floral design. Thai is a 30-year resident of the New York capital region. He and his wife are the proud parents of two daughters, Emma and Leah.

Observing the renowned designer at work arranging flowers he loves is a once-in-a-lifetime design event. Join Warren Garden Club members Nov. 4. Tickets are $30 and include morning pastries and coffee, both speakers, lunch, door prizes and raffle baskets.
