YORK, Pa. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole in a slaying outside a central Pennsylvania strip club last year that the judge called "a prime example of a senseless death."
The York Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1o6enOS ) reports that York County Judge Gregory Snyder sentenced 25-year-old Derrick Johnson on Wednesday. He was convicted of first-degree murder earlier this month in the February 2013 shooting death of 21-year-old Trevahn Kent.
The judge said the evidence showed that Johnson was "lying in wait until the opportunity presented itself to take the life of another human being."
Prosecutors said the shooting stemmed from a fight a month earlier at the club after Kent's friend asked Johnson and his friends to move aside so he could make a pool shot.
