Christopher Johnson of Youngsville has been recognized by the U.S. Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in social studies. A student at Youngsville Middle School, Johnson was nominated for this honor by Melissa Landis, a teacher at the school. His name will appear in the academy's official yearbook. Students are chosen on the basis of academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, attitude and cooperative spirit. He is the son of Dale and Kellie Johnson of Youngsville.

Michael Connolly is a 2010-11 recipient of a $1,000 Pennzoil Scholarship from Clarion University.

Connolly, sophomore legal business studies major, is a son of Margaret Connolly of Warren and the late James Connolly and is a graduate of Warren High School.
Two scholarships are made available by the foundation through an endowment account established by Pennzoil. Award criteria are based on academic achievement and financial need.

Two local students at Gannon University, Erie, are beginning pre-professional school in this fall semester.
Daniel Pascuzzi of Warren will attend Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Pharmacy. He is the son of Santo and Linda Pascuzzi and is a graduate of Warren Area High School.
Richard O. Peterson of Warren will attend the University of Southern California Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He is the son of James Peterson and Lorin Boger and is a graduate of Warren Area High School.
They are two of nearly 50 Gannon students who will continue their studies during the fall semester.

Ashley Luce of Warren earned a 3.6 grade average for the spring semester at DuBois Business College and was named to the honors list.

West Chester University Honors College has announced that Elizabeth Sherman, daughter of Dave and Lisa Sherman of Warren, will enter the Honors College in fall 2010. Sherman is joining a select group of 44 gifted students from 22 different academic majors who represent less than 2 percent of the entering class. Successful candidates not only hold a record of academic excellence, they also demonstrate leadership potential through active engagement in co-curricular and community activities, and exhibit a passion for service.
