STATE COLLEGE - You win some, you lose some.

One night after executing a ninth-inning rally, the Jamestown Jammers couldn't make it two comebacks in a row Thursday, dropping a 7-6 decision to State College.

The Jammers (35-23) got off to a quick start Thursday, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Dallas Hord walked with one out and moved to third on a single by Daniel Black. Black went on to steal second and both runners scored on a double by Marcell Ozuna.

The Spikes scored once in their at-bat, but Jamestown extended the lead back to two runs in the second inning. Aury Diaz and Noah Perio led off the frame with walks and advanced on Brent Keys' sacrifice bunt. Moments later, Harold Brantley flied out to center to score Diaz from third.

Jamestown's next run came in the fifth inning while leading 3-2. This time, James Wooster delivered a one-out pinch hit double and scored on a Black single to second.

Leading 4-3 after six complete, Jamestown appeared to be heading toward the win after scoring twice in the top of the seventh. Perio scored on a Keys double and Keys was plated on a Hord single.

However, the Spikes had a rally left in their tanks, scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 7-6 lead that would prove to be the final. All four runs were earned and came off of losing pitcher Jeremy Heatley who dropped to 3-2 on the season.

In the ninth, Jamestown got the potential tying run to third in the form of Wilfredo Gimenez. However, Ryan Fisher flied out to left to end the game leaving that run 90 feet from home.

The rubber match of the three-game set is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Friday in State College. The Jammers currently lead the New York-Penn League Pinckney Division by two games with 17 dates left in the season.
