By CANDIS RIEDER Correspondent

Phase III set to begin

The Sugar Grove Area Sewage Authority Board recently announced that Phase III of Sugar Grove Area Sewage Project has been funded and is set to begin this fall.

This latest phase received funding totaling $3.3 million with approximately $2 million coming from loans and $1.1million received in grant funding.

Phase III will provide opportunity for 125 more homes in the area to be hooked on to the existing sewage system. Notices will be mailed to those home owners who live in the areas affected by the upcoming Phase III. Open bids for the project will be posted by Aug. 30. Tap-in fees and monthly user fees for Phase III will remain the same those charged in Phase I and II.

Park Grand Opening

The grand opening and ribbon-cutting of the new facility will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be musical entertainment, refreshments and a dedication of our new park with a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m.

The new park gardens are being planted by Garden Club members. There will be a planting day scheduled in the near future which people can volunteer to come and help. At this time, there are some plants that the garden club is looking for. If you have some of these items growing in your gardens and would like to donate toward the planting of the community park gardens, contact Mary Lou VanDorn at 489-3929. The garden club is looking for hardy mums, autumn joy sedum, thyme, lavender, lime green and dark green large leaf hostas, salvia, peony plants, coreopsis, floribunda rose bushes, crazy daisy plants, liatris, phlox, penstemon, and pink dianthus.

Even though the park grand opening happens this fall, the project is ongoing and will be a work in progress with more additions, planting, and work to be done in the spring. To learn more about how this project got started, the project scope or see before and in-progress pictures of the park, go to the Sugar Grove Area website, www.sugargrovepa.com, and click on the Park button.

The project is possible due to the Sugar Grove Borough working with Growing Greener Funds distributed through a DCNR grant, and a gift from the Pearl Manross Estate, Sugar Grove Borough funds, and volunteer work. The completed improvements will include a pavilion, new sidewalks connecting the memorials, the pavilion and the parking lot, benches, landscaping and lights.

Sale Day Thank You

The Sugar Grove Development Council thanks all the vendors and residents who participated in the Annual Sugar Grove Sale Days.
