The Times Observer

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - Marcell Ozuna - have a night.

The Jammers' star designated hitter blasted two home runs and drove in five runs, helping Jamestown to a two-game sweep of the State College Spikes with a 10-6 win Tuesday at Diethrick Park.

Tuesday's game was a back-and-forth affair that featured three ties and four lead changes. However, it was the Jammers that would inflict the most damage and win for the third time in four games and fifth in seven outings.

The Spikes actually jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Mel Rojas Jr. delivered an RBI single and later scored on a double play. The Jammers cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the first inning when Dallas Hord scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-1.

The teams exchanged runs in the second frame with Jamestown's run coming on an RBI groundout by Daniel Black. Still, as the game entered the bottom of the sixth, the Jammers trailed the Spikes, 4-2.

The first large momentum swing of the evening came in the bottom of the sixth when Jamestown plated three runs. Ozuna and Ryan Fisher led off the inning with back-to-back homers that tied the game and the hosts took the lead moments later on an RBI single by Brent Keys.

The Spikes would go on to tie things in the seventh only to watch the Jammers re-take the lead in the bottom of the seventh when Ozuna drove home Hord with a single. Keeping with the see-saw trend, the Spikes again tied the game in the top of the eighth making it 6-6 entering the bottom of the eighth.

The game would be decided in that stanza.

With one out, Keys singled to start the Jammers' rally. Black and Hord followed with walks to load the bases and Keys scored on a sacrifice fly by Noah Perio that made it 7-6. Ozuna was up next and hammered a pitch over the center field wall to drive in his third, fourth and fifth runs of the night to close out the scoring at 10-6.

Jamestown pitcher Jeremy Heatley earned the victory despite also being charged with a blown save.

The Jammers (26-18) hit the road Wednesday when they travel to Maryland for the season's first and only showdown with the Aberdeen Ironbirds.
