Jammers fall back to .500 in loss at State College

June 25, 2010
The Times Observer

STATE COLLEGE - No ninth inning magic this time around.

After two straight games of scoring the gamewinning runs in the ninth inning, the Jamestown Jammers were unable to tally back on State College, dropping a 6-2 decision to the Spikes.

One day after upping its record above .500 for the first time in 2010, Jamestown drops back to 4-4 as it heads back home to Diethrick Park for Saturday's game against Williamsport.

The Jammers never led Friday, falling behind in the bottom of the first after an RBI double by Chase Lyles.

After the Jammers tied the game in the fourth on a solo homer by Marcell Ozuna, State College exploded for three runs in the bottom of the frame to make it 4-1 and go ahead for good.

The Spikes would add solo runs in the fifth and eighth innings while Jamestown would only manage an RBI groundout by Aaron Dudley in the fifth that brought home Dallas Poulk.

Alvedo Estevez suffered his second loss of the young season, allowing three runs on two hits with four walks and a strikeout in just three innings of work. His ERA grew to 12.60 on the season.
