Jammers fall to 2-3 to start NY-Penn games

June 22, 2010
The Times Observer

WILLIAMSPORT - The Jamestown Jammers jumped out to a 3-0 lead and watched it quickly fizzle as the Williamsport Crosscutters rallied back in the middle innings for a 6-5 victory on Tuesday.

The loss drops the local team to 2-3 on the season, heading into Wednesday's 7:05 p.m. series finale at the Crosscutters.

The Jammers started with two straight singles from Alfredo Lopez and Dallas Poulk and Ryan Fisher soon delivered a one-out double to plate Lopez and move another potential run to third. Before the inning was over, Jamestown added runs on a Sequoyah Stonecipher sacrifice fly and an RBI single by Wilfredo Gimenez.

Jamestown added a fourth run in the second on a homer by Poulk that made it 4-0, but it would be the last thing to celebrate for awhile.

Williamsport plated three runners in the third inning and another in the fourth off of Jamestown starter Holden Sprague and relief pitcher Saul Gonzalez allowed two Crosscutter runs in the fifth to give the hosts the lead for good.

Jamestown added a solo homer by James Wooster with two outs in the sixth inning, but the Jammers would get no closer.
