Watson Grange

John Hollabaugh, master, presided over the recent meeting of the Watson Grange.

Work is progressing on the Quilt Block Sign for the front of the building with the unveiling set for July 8.

Saddle up
Hickory Creek Wilderness Ranch held a fund-raising trail ride for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Saturday, June 12. Pictured are some of the riders who participated in helping to raise $1,500 for St Jude.

Possible fund-raisers were discussed with the decision made to hold a 50/50 raffle with the drawing to be Aug. 14 in the Pomona Grange during the Warren County Fair Week.

The Literary program consisted of readings and a skit pertaining to Flag Day and Dairy Month.

At the previous meeting a memorial service was held in memory of Dorothy Anderson, Harry Weaver, and Marvin Reiff.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, June 24 with a workbee at 6 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m.

Tidioute Alumni

Reunion

Plans are progressing for the Alumni Reunion being held on Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Tidioute Community Charter School with a dinner and dance at the Tidioute Firehall later that evening.

Registrations are still being accepted and former students, alumni and teachers may purchase tickets for the dinner and /or dance.

They will be accepting registrations until July 19.

If you did not get a letter or know of someone who would like a registration form, contact Sandy Jamieson at 484-7286.

The next meeting of the Alumni Association will be held on July 7 at 7 p.m. at Tidioute Public Library.

9th Annual

Golf Scramble

Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its 9th Annual Golf Scramble on Saturday, July 24 at River Ridge Golf Course with a 9 a.m. shotgun time.

This is a four-person format with a $40 per person entry fee. The fee includes: green fees, cart, prizes, lunch and beverages on the course.

Saddle Up For St. Jude

Hickory Creek Wilderness Ranch held a Saddle Up on Saturday, June 12 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and raised a total of $1,500.

Participants rode their own horse or a ranch horse on a four-hour trail ride and had a chicken dinner after the ride.

Next up is a similar ride, "Ride the Trail To A Cure", Trail ride set for Aug. 21 to benefit PA Breast Cancer Coalition.

National Honor Society

Tidioute Community Charter School Senior High honor society consists of President Natalie McLaughlin,Vice President Amanda Burris, Secretary Allison Konkle and Treasurer Alexis Morrison.

New inductees for 2010 are Kassidy Altman, Megan Walters, Stephanie Burris, Anna Lindemuth, and Alexandria Nester.

Elementary National Honor Society inductees are Annah Burke, Lauryn Harshaw, Lukus Sheckler, Nettie Durstine, Bella Konkle, Hailie Cass and Angel Flanigan.

Borough Council

Police Chief Steve Vincent reported traveling 681 miles and had 14 complaints and charges.

A recreation playground supervisor has been hired for Tidioute through the recreation committee in Warren.

This year Jennifer Shaw will be the playground supervisor and will be taking the kids to the pool once a week and there will be lots of other activities for those children who attend.

Steve Morrison has a total of 34 kids playing on the Bantams, Midgets, and Majors league teams.

He received a really good response from the parents for helping in the concession stands and they will be selling strombolis.

If all goes well after the baseball season is over, he may start a soccer team.

Personnel committee reported that Kate Proper has been hired as the new meter attendant. All vehicles that are illegally will be ticketed

Letters had been sent out to property owners concerning the high grass and all were taken care of except one and further action is being taken.

The bills were approved for payment.

Tidioute Senior Center

Members of the Tidioute Senior Center will be taking a bus to the Crawford County Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 25 to see country singer Josh Turner.
