Alice In Wonderland

Students at Tidioute Community Charter School will be presenting "Alice In Wonderland" on Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22 at 7 p.m. both nights.

This is open to the public and you are encouraged to attend and show these young men and women your support.

Spring Concert

Limestone clean-up

Residents and camp owners in Limestone Township will have an opportunity to get rid of all that unwanted trash on Saturday, May 22 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There is no charge for township residents or tax payers. Everyone must show a tax or utility bill to use the dumpster.

No batteries, tires, propane tanks or hazardous materials will be accepted.

Metal must be separated from the trash.

Food distribution

The Salvation Army food distribution will be held on Monday, May 24 at the Tidioute Towers from 10 a.m. till 12 noon.

All future distributions will be at the Tidioute Towers and will of course be on the fourth Monday of the month.

Dice Run

Tidioute Dice Run "Thunder In The Hoot" will be sponsored by Tidioute Community Charter School this year and a new Chairperson or persons is needed.

Former chairperson Vicki McCauley is stepping down this year.

This is a great fund raiser for the school and your support is greatly needed.

Those interested in helping can contact the school at 484-3550.

Salvation Army Camp

Those Students who will be attending Camp Allegheny in Ellwood City need to have their applications back to Jeri Higgins by May 24.

Cost is $5 per child to secure their spot at camp. All forms must be completed and turned in to Higgins.

If you have any questions please contact Higgins at 484-2271.

Plans are being worked on to obtain a bus to transport the children to Camp Allegheny and back.

Chaperones from our Tidioute Unit of the Salvation Army will accompany the children to and from camp.

At this time there are twenty-three children with applications for camp.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to help send these kids to camp can send a donation payable to Tidioute Unit Salvation Army and mail it to Linda Scott-Unit Chairperson, 60 Jefferson ST, Tidioute, PA 16351

Bake sale

Tidioute First United Church will be holding a bake sale on Saturday, May 29 at the Methodist Church booth on Fishing tournament grounds from 9 a.m. till the goods are gone.

Funnel cake booth will be open also.

Members of the church who would like to bake and donate items for this sale are encouraged to do so.

Grand Prize drawings

Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament Committee members are now selling tickets for their Grand Prize Drawing.

Tickets are for First Place winner- 2,000 watt King Craft Generator. Second Place winner will receive an Adventuridge Dome 3-person Tent.

Winning numbers will be determined by the evening PA Daily Lottery number straight for first place and second place will be the daily number in reverse.

The drawing will be on Monday, September 6 following the 7 p.m daily drawing.

Tickets are $1 each and winner need not be present to win. Contact Russell Glenn at 484-3822 for tickets or any committee member.

50/50 Drawing

Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament is having a 50/50 raffle to be drawn on Saturday, August 7 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available from Russell Glenn at 484-3822 or any other committee member.

Also tickets will be on sale at different sites in downtown Tidioute.

Tickets are $1 each and winner need not be present to win.

Watson Grange

An informal meeting of Watson Grange (due to the quilt sign being worked on in the meeting room) was held recently with Master John Hollabaugh presiding.

Another work bee on the sign will be Tuesday, May 25 at 6 p.m. This project is part of the quilt block trail across Pennsylvania. Any other organizations wishing to participate may contact a Grange member for more information.

Family Activity chairperson, Deanna Hollabaugh reviewed some of the projects for this year with one being a Christmas Tree ornament to be sent to Family Festival in July. These will be used for a "Special Pennsylvania Christmas Tree" at the National Convention to be held in Charlotte, NC in November with Pennsylvania co-hosting.

A new contest is "Decorate Wrapped Gift Box".

Youth Chairperson, Miranda Irons stated that Youth Camp will be held July 2-4 at Camp Sylvan Hills.

State Community service projects still include the collection of pop tabs and boxes for our military.

The Lenhart Cemetery was cleaned and tombstones that had been tipped over were reset.

Watson Juniors are working on their projects to be judged at the Warren County Fair.

Stephanie Burris will be attending PA State Junior Camp in July at Camp Sylvan Hills.

Glass items are still needed for the Dime Pitch to be held at the Tidioute Fishing tournament in September. For pickup please call John Hollabaugh at 484-2242 or contact other Watson Grange members.

Up coming events at Watson Grange include: May 25 members will work on the quilt block sign at 6 p.m.; Watson Grange meeting on May 27 with a work bee on the ornaments at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7:30 and there will be sandwiches for refreshments.

W. W. II Re-enactment

Excitement is mounting as the date of Saturday, Aug. 7 is approaching.

That is the date that the re-enactors are coming back to Tidioute.

Re-enactment T-shirts will be sold again by Kent Heenan.

The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 8003 will be selling memorable buttons.

There will be vendors with food and drink so be sure to keep that date free.

District 19 Meeting

A District 19 Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW held their district meeting in Port Allegany, on Sunday, May 16.

Elections were conducted with the following results: President-Beth Bauer, Sr. Vice-Fran Stoneburg, Jr. Vice-June Shirey, Treasurer- Jackie Edmiston, Secretary-June Shirey, Chaplain-Barb Downey, Patriotic Instructor-Jeanne Renard, Conductress-Doris Svitek, Guard-Sherry Stinebiser.

Playground supervisor

Applications for playground supervisor will be available next week at the borough office.

Applicants must be 23 years or older or have completed one full year of college.

More information will follow.

Afghan/Quilt Show

The Annual Afghan and Quilt Show will be held on Saturday, May 29 on Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament grounds, located at 90 Main ST, Tidioute.

Afghans and quilts will be judged on first, second, and third place and one Best of Show.

The donated pieces are distributed to Warren General Hospital, American Red Cross and the RSVP Program.

Sizes should be 36" by 40 "; 40" by 46" and 48" by 70", please measure your items and pin the size on a corner of the item.

They need to be washable and child friendly colors.

There is no charge for showing and donating. however, if you want your item judged and not donated there will be a $3 charge.

Items must be entered between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Judging will take place at noon. If your item is not being donated, please pick it up by 1 p.m.

Wheel and Deals

Car Show

The Annual Wheels and Deals Car Show for Tidioute will be held on Saturday, May 29 from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and judging will at 1 p.m. sharp so you need to be in place and ready.

Dash Plaques will be awarded to the first 50 entrants

There are twelve classes this year with years ranging from 1900 to 2010.

There will be cash and a trophy for first place and cash only for second and third place winners.

Also, a Best of Show Trophy will be presented.

Chairman, Bob Williams is seeking cash sponsors from individuals and/or businesses and if you are interested please contact him at 484-7570.

There will be many food booths open on the grounds during the Car Show.

Music will be provided by the DJ who will be playing the Oldies But Goodies during this time frame also.

Townwide yard sale

Tidioute borough will be hosting a Townwide Yard Sale and anyone who would like to have a sale can do so either in the Garage, yard, on the porch or under a tent.

This is a good opportunity to clear out a few things that are just collecting dust and taking up space.

A list of sale sites will be available through the borough office and at local businesses.

There is no charge to have your sale listed and yard sale shoppers will know where the sales are located.

Ham and Turkey Party

Pennsylvania State Championship fishing Tournament committee members will be holding their Ham and Turkey party on Sunday, May 30 at the Tidioute Firehall.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and games begin at 7:30 p.m.

Cost is $3 per person and the ticket you receive at the door is good for several door prizes to be drawn through the evening.

Russell Glenn and Casey Parker will be collecting door prizes from local merchants.

Memorial Day Parade

VFW Post 8803 will hold a Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 31.

More information will be forth coming.
