Benefit dinner
Thank you so much to all who helped make the benefit dinner for Samuel Lindell a success. Samuel is the 3-year-old son of Mike and Jodie (Passinger) Lindell and the younger brother of Caleb Lindell. Samuel was diagnosed two years ago with leukemia and has recently suffered a relapse. This benefit held Saturday, May 8 at the Lander Fire Hall will help his family with medical and travel expenses. Thank You to those businesses and individuals who donated food items. Thank You to those who donated the more than 130 Chinese Auction items. Thank You to all those who gave of their time to work, cook, and serve at the event. And last of all the biggest Thank You to the more than 700 people in the community who came out to support the family at the dinner.

EMHS Choir

Friday, May 21 the Eisenhower Middle Senior High School Choirs will present their Annual Spring Concert. The EMHS Senior Choir recently returned from their trip to New York City where they took part in Broadway Classroom workshops, attended Broadway shows, and had time to tour the city. The choir will include music from "Wicked" and "Phantom of the Opera" in their Spring Concert next Friday. The concert will be held in the EMHS Auditorium starting at 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to this annual event and donations are accepted at the door.
Memorial Day service
The Community of Sugar Grove and surrounding area will hold their Annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 31st in the Sugar Grove Town Park starting at 11 a.m. Commissioner John Eggleston will be the guest speaker this year. The service will include members AMVETS Post #50 and Sugar Grove American Legion Post #758. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend the service to honor our service men and women.
Moving Together
Let's Move Together Arthritis Walk will be happening Saturday, May 15, at the Jamestown Audubon Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown, NY 14701 with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. and start time at 10:30 a.m. Let's Move Together is a nationwide movement led by the Arthritis Foundation that encourages people to move to prevent or treat arthritis. Leslie LaBarte, an auxiliary member of Sugar Grove AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary #50 is one of the children that has grown up with this disabling arthritis and the organizer of the Jamestown Walk. CV Community Center
The Chandlers Valley Area Community Center members are still selling raffle tickets to benefit operations and activities for the center. Items being raffled are a new Grillmaster, 4-burner, gas grill and a $25 gift certificate for Town & Country Store. Tickets are $1 each and drawing will be held on May 24,. Tickets were donated by Lawson Brothers Quality Auto and the gift certificate was donated by Herkey's Town & Country Store. See any CV Community Center Member to purchase tickets or call 489-3760.
Scholarships available
Sugar Grove American Legion Post #758 is offering scholarships to Eisenhower Middle High School seniors. Information is available in the Eisenhower High School guidance office.
Chandlers Valley Sale Day
The Annual Chandlers Valley Sale Day is slated for Saturday June 16 . There are plenty of sale sites available at the ball field for a vendor $10 site fee. The Chandlers Valley Community Center will also be having a chicken barbecue dinner during Sale Day event from 1 p.m. until supplies are gone. Spring Story Hour
Story Hour at the Sugar Grove Free Library will be held every Thursday at 11:30 a.m. starting May 6th through the 27th. Story Hour is a four- week program for preschool age children. The children receive their first library card, read stories, have fun with other children their age, and learn about the library.

School registration
With the 2009/2010 school year coming to an end it is time to think ahead to fall. The Imaginative Preschool in Sugar Grove is now taking applications for their fall 2010/11 classes. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Children must be three on or before September 1st to enter the 3 year old class. Children must be four on or before September 1st to enter the 4-5-year-old class. There are two 4-5 year old classes and one 3-year-old class. Classes for 4-5 year olds meet on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m. or Tuesdays & Thursdays from 12:30 3 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9:00 11:30 a.m. The 3 year old class meets Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30 3 p.m. Class times and schedules are subject to change depending on the need in the community. A tour of the class room, registration information, and a chat with the teachers can be arranged by contacting the school at 489-3105.
Township clean-up
The Sugar Grove Community Clean-up Day is going to be held Saturday, May 15, from 8 a.m. 1 p.m. The drop off place is the Sugar Grove Township Building. This Clean up is for Sugar Grove Township residents only. The cost is $5 per load. Please remember no batteries, oil, hazardous materials, asbestos, propane tanks, no televisions, monitors, computers, tires or wet paint is allowed to be dropped off. If you have any questions, you may contact the Sugar Grove Township Building at 489-7809.

Pathways to Petals
Pathways to Petals Garden Tour will be hosted by the Pinegrove Township Lioness Club on July 10, 2010. Anyone living in Farmington, Pine Grove, or Elk townships who has gardens they would like to display may join this tour. If someone is considering starting a new garden, this is a perfect time. There will be a monetary prize awarded for the best new garden started in 2010. The Pinegrove Township Lioness Club holds many fund raising events each year, with the proceeds going to help all communities' families in times of disaster. The Lioness Club also supports the Pinegrove Lions Club in their fund raising efforts for their sight funds. Awards assembly
On Thursday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m. the Eisenhower faculty as well as individuals and organizations from the community will present the senior recognitions, academic awards, scholarships, university and college scholarships, and honors to members of the 2010 graduating class. Each year the surrounding community is generous with their awards to our graduating students to help them with their future education. Everyone is invited to attend the awards ceremony which will be held in the EMHS auditorium. Graduation ceremonies will be held on Friday, June 11.
Cooking class
The ARAMARK Food Services will hold its final session of free community cooking classes for the 09-10 school year. A class on Outdoor Summer BBQ Grilling will be held at the Warren Area Elementary School at 6 p.m. on June 2nd. Previously this year, a class on All About Apples was held at Allegheny Valley Elementary School, the Holiday Cooking Class was held at Beaty Warren Middle School, Southwest Cooking Night was held at Sugar Grove Elementary School and Italian Cooking night was held at Youngsville Elementary Middle School. Food Service Director and Executive Chef, Justin Tech is on hand to teach new and interesting recipes with the help of his staff. Those in the class will get hands on experience cooking the evening's recipes. There is also a cooking question and answer time along with everyone's favorite, "sample time". Anyone in the Community is invited to attend. To sign up for a spot in the above class, just call the ARAMARK Food Service office at 723-6900 ext. 2159. Remember there is no charge for the class, we just ask that you register so we have enough materials and cooking ingredients ready for the class. All classes are geared toward adults but students are welcome to attend. This is the third year of free community cooking classes provided throughout Warren County by Chef Tech and his staff. You can also see cooking demonstrations daily in August at the Warren County Fair.
