Library needs help
State and county allocations that have funded over 33 percent of the Youngsville Library budget have been cut by over $10,000 in 2010 and further cuts are on the horizon for 2011. The Youngsville Library is in a dire situation where it is finding itself unable to meet minimum State standards required to keep its doors open. In 2009, the library has been forced to close two days (Thursdays and Saturdays) and is currently faced with the possibility of further cuts in hours and services offered.
Over 16,500 patrons used Youngsville's community library services in 2009. Over 250 adults and 60 young people use our computers each month. More than 300 DVDs are loaned out each month, as YPL serves all residents of Warren County including 3 local municipalities: Youngsville Borough, Brokenstraw Township, and Pittsfield Township. Your community library has grown tremendously from its humble beginnings in 1935 where it was located in the back of the Mead Drug Store with only 50 books 'borrowed' from the State Lending Library.

It's not too late to join Youngsville's team." Cancer has touched everyone in one way or another and we need to find a cure. "It's well worth taking the time to walk and it's fun," she said.
When you call to join the team, let them who in your group will be walking in the relay and who will be helping in the fundraising efforts and donation collections from local businesses. The Youngsville Group is hoping that they will get many people from the community coming from the churches and organizations to be involved with this event. They are asking for you to join them for a fun filled way to raise money for the Cancer Society. Call Barb at 563-4936 to sign up or for more information.
