Trail group to meet

The Allegheny National Forest chapter of the North Country Trail will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 22, at the Lion's Den in Sheffield. The group will discuss: National Trails Day event near Kelletville. This will be a 1.2 mile re-route that will take place on June 5. There will be a get-together at Kelletville campgrounds on June 4, area # 6-7-8. The Tionesta Corps of Engineers have donated those campsites for this event, so there will be free camping for June 4 and 5. Bring all your camping gear, good work boots, sturdy gloves. Coordinators will supply all the tools necessary. Secondly, the A-100 challenge will be a 100 mile walk through the forest in 50 hours (also have a 25 mile and a 50 mile). Starting point will be at Rt 348 at Willow Bay. End point for the 25 will be at Chapel Bay, for the 50 mile, Henry's Mills, and the 100 at Rt 66 south of Marienville. This is not a race for trophies, just a fun walk for anyone to enjoy the forest and meet new friends. People are already signing up. Everyone is welcome to come to the meeting. This is only a small section of the North Country National Scenic Trail. The completed trail is 4600 miles long, twice the length of the Appalachian Trail. It take many hours to maintain just this 100 mile section so that everyone can enjoy a nice walk in the woods. Any questions, call Keith Klos at 484-7420.
