Broadway Delights

The Eisenhower Senior Choir continues to prepare for the upcoming trip to New York City by presenting "Broadway Delights," a program of Broadway show tunes on Tuesday, March 16 at 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The Choir Support Club is selling $5 tickets in advance for the evening. The ticket entitles the holder to coffee and a choice of delicious desserts, and cabaret seating for the presentation of many popular Broadway tunes sung by our EMHS soloists, Dreamers, Fantasia, and a medley by Senior Choir. Tickets must be purchased in advance from any choir booster or by calling the EMHS music room at 757-9357 and leaving a message for Mrs. Denise Pearson, director. All reservations for the event will need to be made prior to March 12th.

The EMHS Senior Girls Basketball players pictured here will play for one last time together in the 5th Annual CASA Senior Classic on Tuesday, March 16. They are Stefanie Santo, Sarah Lundmark, Kayla Knapp, Emma West, Meghan Stanton, Ashley White, and Justine Sherry.

The Warren and Eisenhower High School Jazz Bands will be hosting a Jazz concert at Warren Area High School on Friday, March 19th at 7 p.m. in the large hall next to the auditorium. A dessert and beverage will be provided and the cost of your admission will be $5. Extras will be available for $1. All proceeds will benefit the WAHS and EMHS bands. The Elk County Catholic Jazz Band will also be performing. Please contact me the WAHS or EMHS Band Directors for tickets and more information.

RSVP VITA

The Sugar Grove Free Library is offering free tax preparation for low income, disabled, or seniors. The IRS trained volunteers will file, fill out, and submit your Federal, State, Local, and Rent & Property Rebate forms.

You must call the library at 489-7872 to make an appointment.

The following is a list of dates and time available:

March 15, 17, 22, 24, and 31st- 2 to 5 p.m.

April 5 and the 15 - 2 to 5 p.m.

Concert

The College of William and Mary Wind Symphony is presenting a free community concert on Thursday, March 25, at Eisenhower High School. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. The group is on their spring tour to Toronto and will make the stop at Eisenhower for a concert because one of their members is an EMHS graduate. Erin Wagner was a part of the EMHS music programs for years and graduated from EMHS in June 2009. The symphony will spend the night with 20 host families in the Sugar Grove, Russell and Warren area and then continue on to Toronto on Friday morning.

Foyer book sale

Stop at the Sugar Grove Free Library and check out the gentle used books for sale in the library's foyer display case. Paperbacks are $1 and hardbacks are $2 a piece. This is an on-going sale so the selection changes frequently. The money raised will go to augment the library's budget. The foyer also has a selection 2009 tax forms available. If you can't find the forms you need ask for assistance at the circulation desk.

Regional Chorus selected

Eisenhower Music Students, Brent Foster and Kate Ewer, were selected through auditions to represent Eisenhower High School at the PMEA Pennsylvania Music Education Association Regional Chorus Event on March 10 through the 13 at Seneca High School in Wattsburg . Peter VanDenHonert from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania will be the guest conductor. The group will present concerts Friday, March 12, evening and Saturday afternoon, March 13th at the Seneca High School. Congratulations to the talented students selected to be a part of this event.

Garage sale time

The Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department is looking for those interested in taking part in an indoor garage sale. The date will be sometime the end of March or early April. Right now if you are interested in having a table to sell your garage sale items, please contact Linda at 489-7750 for more information. It's a great way to get a jump start on the garage sale season and best of all you won't have to worry about the weather.

Pig raffle

The Sugar Grove Elementary School is holding a Pig Raffle to benefit the Heifer International Project. The event is sponsored by AMVETS Post #50. You can purchase tickets by stopping at the Elementary School office through April 15th. The pig will be butchered by Coffaros' Custom Butchering. Cost for butchering will be paid by the winner. Drawing for the winner will be held on April 16th. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.

Band concert

The Road Apple Ridge Band will be having a Blue Grass Jam session Monday March 15, time 6:30 p.m. at the Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church. Bring a snack to share and come and join us for a good time.

CASA Basketball

Classic

The CASA 5th Annual Senior Basketball Classic will be held Tuesday, March 16th at 6 p.m. for the girl's game and 7:30 p.m. for the boy's game. Both games will be held in the Warren Area High School gym. This event brings our area together each year to celebrate our graduating basketball athletes. The games will feature all graduating senior players and cheerleaders from eight high schools in the area. Schools participating will be East Forest High School, Eisenhower Middle High School, Sheffield Area High School, Tidioute Charter School, Warren Area High School, Warren County Christian School, Youngsville High School, and West Forest High School. Proceeds from the game benefit CASA and the game is one last time to showcase the outstanding talent we have in our area. Please plan to attend this exciting event.

Pathways to Petals

Pathways to Petals Garden Tour will be hosted by the Pine Grove Township Lioness Club on July 10, 2010. Anyone living in Farmington, Pinegrove, or Elk Township whom has gardens they would like to display my join this tour. If someone is considering starting a new garden, this is a perfect time. There will be a monetary prize awarded for the best new garden started in 2010. The Pinegrove Township Lioness Club holds mand fund raising events each year, with the proceeds going to help all communities' families in times of disaster. The Lioness Club also supports the Pinegrove Lions Club in their fund raising efforts for their sight funds. Anyone who is interested in taking part in the Garden Tour may register by contacting Pat Strickland at 757-4763

CV Community Center

The Chandlers Valley Area Community Center members are selling raffle tickets to benefit operations and activities for the center. Items being raffled are a new Grillmaster, 4-burner, gas grill and a $25.00 gift certificate for Town & Country Store. Tickets are $1.00 each and drawing will be held on May 24, 2010. Tickets were donated by Lawson Brothers Quality Auto and the gift certificate was donated by Herkey's Town & Country Store. See any CV Community Center Member to purchase tickets.

Easter egg hunt

The Chandlers Valley Annual Easter egg hunt will be held on Saturday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at the CV Ball Field. Anyone interested in helping with the planning and preparation of this event, please contact Candy Hall at (814) 489-3880, a.s.a.p. As a traditional "Community" event, help is always welcome and all children are invited to attend.
