Mead Township home lost in fire

February 27, 2010

A Mead Township home on Kinzua Road is a total loss following a Friday afternoon fire.

According to Clarendon Fire Department First Assistant Chief Terry Gregerson, the cause of the blaze at 1020 Kinzua Rd. remains undetermined and the Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is set to inspect the scene Saturday. Gregerson did say it began at the back of the structure around 4 p.m.

The owner of the home, Walt Pierce, was not home at the time of the fire and no other injuries were reported, Gregerson said.

Gregerson was unclear of the monetary damage to the home.

Sheffield, Cherry Grove, Glade and Pleasant volunteer fire departments responded, Gregerson said, as well as Youngsville's Rehabilitation Unit and the Red Cross. Starbrick Volunteer Fire Department was on standby.

Responders did not face unusual circumstances in putting out the fire, Gregerson said, other than cold temperatures.
