Stanley A. "Toot's" Hajec, 81, of Sample Flats Road, Corry, Pa., died on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at his residence with all his family at his side.
Stan was born in Corry, Pa on July 17, 1928, a son of the late Stanley and Mary Kolasa Hajec.
"Toot's" was raised and educated in Corry where he graduated from St. Edward's High School in 1948. He joined the U. S. Army following graduation and served overseas for two years during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he went to Vale Tech in Central, Pa and studied auto body work for a year. "Toot's" then returned to Corry and coowned and operated Colza Garage with his brother, Chester for thirty years. In 1986 he started Stan's Used Cars at his residence and continued to operate the business until the present time.
Stan was a member of St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a life member of the VFW Post #264, American Legion Post #365 both in Corry and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. "Toot's" enjoyed spending time with his buddies at the hunting camp, he also enjoyed walking, word search puzzles, watching cowboy movies and especially spending time with family and his two granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Annette Pruger, Virginia Gretzler and Stella Stec, by five brothers, Blair, Frank, Walter "Ed", Jack and Joseph Hajec.
" Toot's" is survived by his loving wife of fiftysix years, Sally M. Yaiko Hajec whom he married in Corry, Pa on June 13, 1953. Also surviving are three daughters, Diane Fogle of Seneca, Pa., Cheryl Koenig and her husband, Gary, of Erie, Pa and Deb Poe and her husband, Andy, of Corry, Pa., a brother, Chester E. "Chet" Hajec of Corry, Pa., two granddaughters Hannah Koenig of Erie, PA and Michalynn Kirby and her husband, Kevin, of Warren, Pa and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of a prayer service there at 7 p.m. with Deacon William Sproveri officiating.
Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Corry, Pa.
