Future players
EMHS recently celebrated the younger players from the Northern Attendance Area who may become the future EMHS Girls Basketball team. Players are back row, Abby Lundmark, Paige Parmenter, Allie Schutt, Mallory Trumbull; and front row, Brielle Whitney, Lydia Giannini, Haley Spicer, Delaney Nizzi.
Club Crossroad members at Eisenhower High School have been thinking about a way to help the people of Haiti. The decision was made to sell tee shirts for $10 and donate $6 per shirt toward Haiti relief. The aqua colored shirts with "Knights Fight For Haiti" written in a circle around a knight will be on sale through Feb. 22 at the school. Shirts may be ordered through a Club Crossroads member or by calling the club adviser at 730-0013.
Make-n- Munch
A Special Make -n- Munch Cooking Class was held on Saturday, Feb. 6, for Daisy Brownies and Girl Scouts in Warren County. Justin Tech, Food Service Director and Executive Chef for ARAMARK spent the day cooking with the two groups at Beaty Warren Middle School. The scouts assembled and cooked their own specialty pizzas, spinach and feta cheese triangles in phylo dough, and trifles. A good time was had using new cooking techniques that the scouts had not had the opportunity to try in their home kitchens. Approximately 50 scouts took advantage of the fun day of learning.
Spaghetti dinner
The Boy Scout Troop 17 of Sugar Grove will hold a spaghetti dinner Fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 28. They will be serving dinner from noon 6 p.m. at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church Educational Building. The Cost is $5 for Adult, $3 for ages six to adult, and children six and under will eat free. The meal includes spaghetti and meatballs, Italian bread, tossed salad, beverage and dessert. Take out will also be available.
Kindergarten
Registration
The Warren County School District will hold the Sugar Grove Elementary School Kindergarten Registration for the 2010-11 school year, on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Parents of students who will be attending Kindergarten next year are asked to please come and register their children. Times for registration will be 8:30 a.m. 10:45 a.m. or 1 p.m. 2 p.m. In an effort to make registration convenient for working parents, there will also be an evening registration time held from 4:00 p.m. 6 p.m. Registration packets which parents are required to fill out may be picked up prior to the day of registration. There will also be vision and health services screening available for the new students at this time. WCCS
The Warren County Christian School will hold their Kindergarten registration/visitation on Friday, February 26th from 1 p.m. 2:30 p.m. The WCCS offers a Christ-centered kindergarten program for children. The program is offered five full days a week with phonics-based reading curriculum, math, hands-on science, art, music, physical education, Bible teaching and more. Scholarships are now available for families who meet the state income guidelines. You may visit the school by appointment anytime. Children entering kindergarten for the 2010-11 school year, may come in and participate in the kindergarten classroom for this scheduled visitation day. There is no obligation for tuition required to come in and visit. Please schedule your child's visit by calling the school at 563-4457
Pork raffle
The EMHS Choir Support Club is selling $5 raffle tickets for two halves of a pig to be butchered by Coffaro's Custom Butchering in Sugar Grove according to the winners' specifications. Each of the two winners will win approximately 95 pounds of pork. Dan and Donna Blair are donating the pig to the group's fundraising efforts to help send Senior Choir members to New York City in May 2010. Tickets may be purchased from Senior Choir parents or by calling Donna Blair 489-5657, Cindy Strickland 757-8416, or leave a message for Denise Pearson in the EMHS music room at 757-9357. The drawing will take place February 25th . Good Luck to all.
Humane Society
During the month of February when you bring your overdue books back to the Sugar Grove Free Library the fines colleted will be donated to the Humane Society.
During the month of February you can also donate items to the Library to help animals at the Warren county Humane Society. The library is hosting a drop center for Purina Kitten Food, Cat Litter, Spic & Span detergent, Paper Towels and Bleach. Other ways you can help this month are to Adopt a shelter pet or encourage others to do so, purchase a yearly membership, sponsor a kennel in honor or memory of someone who loves animals, celebrate a special occasion by giving a donation to the Humane Society, donate funds to help spay or neuter pets. Your donations can help give these animals another chance at finding a loving family. Valentine's Day
A Valentine's Day dinner and live band event will be happening at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 13. Couples or Singles are welcome to come and have a good time celebrating Valentine's Day. The cost is $12 per person. A served buffet dinner will be provided with salad, entrees, dessert and beverages. Ron Carrington Sr. and the band, Touch Of Old, will perform during and after dinner. There will be Valentine's activities, door prizes, basket raffles, and fun for all. The fun all starts at 5:30 p.m. Come and spend the evening with us. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Overflow Conference trip in April 2010. To purchase tickets, please call the church office at 489-3105.
Community
Cooking Class
The ARAMARK Food Services will hold its third session of free community cooking classes for the 09-10 school year. The Southwest Cooking Night will be held at the Sugar Grove Elementary School on Tuesday night, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m. Previously, a class on All About Apples was held at Allegheney Valley Elementary School and the Holiday Cooking Class was held at Beaty Warren Middle School. Food Service Director and Executive Chef, Justin Tech is on hand to teach new and interesting recipes with the help of his staff. Those in the class will get hands on experience cooking the evening's recipes. There is also a cooking question and answer time along with everyone's favorite, "sample time". Anyone in the Community is invited to attend. To sign up for a spot in the above class, just call the ARAMARK Food Service office at 723-6900 ext. 2159. Remember there is no charge for the class, we just ask that you register so we have enough materials and cooking ingredients ready for the class. All classes are geared toward adults but students are welcome to attend. Children attending should be accompanied by a parent or adult. The next free Community Cooking Class will be held in the Youngsville Area in April and we will have our final session at the Warren Area Elementary Center in May with out outdoor class on grilling.
Computer classes
Novice classes take some of the mystery out of using your computer more efficiently.
Ever wonder what's in the box? Do you need to know some of the jargon and vocabulary associated with computers? These and many other questions will be addressed so that you can feel more comfortable using your PC. Make plans to attend the novice classes that will be held at the library Feb. 16 and 18 from 6 to 8 p.m..
If you feel that you are a little more computer savvy you may want to attend a more advanced class. These classes will be held Feb. 23 and 25 from 6 -8.
Learn about: social networking, on-line education, protecting yourself from Internet hoaxes or how to research on-line.
A $10 fee per class is payable to the library before classes begin to hold your seat.
Classes fill up fast so call the library at 489-7872 to reserve your spot.
The Library will have the Seneca District mobile lab for the month of February and open labs will be available during regular library hours with the exception of the class times mentioned above.
RSVP VITA Program
The Sugar Grove Free Library is offering free tax preparation for low income, disabled, or seniors. The IRS trained volunteers will file, fill out, and submit your Federal, State, Local, and Rent & Property Rebate forms.
You must call the library at 489-7872 to make an appointment.

Book discussion
The book discussion group will meet again at the library on Monday February 21st at 6:30 p.m. This month's book is "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson.

Quilt raffle
The Sugar Grove Free Library is conducting a quilt raffle to generate operating and programming funds for the library. The quilt can be viewed at the library and was donated by Linda Eckman, owner of Creative Threads in Frewsburg, N.Y. The quilt is queen size with a star pattern in blues and yellows. Tickets are available at the library for $2 each or 3 for $5. Or can be obtained through the library board members.
The drawing will be held Saturday, Feb. 27. The winner does not have to be present to win. Your donation helps the Sugar Grove Free Library maintain operating expenses, as well as the ability to continue the services that the library provides to the community.
EMHS Band Boosters
The EMHS Band Boosters will be having a 300 Club get together. The event will be happening on Saturday, February 20th at the Frewsburg Legion, 9 Meadow Lane, Frewsburg, NY. The cost for tickets is $10. Each ticket provides admission for two people and a free dinner. There will be a live band, Chinese auction and more. Event tickets can be purchased from any Band Booster parent. Proceeds will benefit the Eisenhower Middle High School Instrumental Program.
