Recycling

Members of the Tidioute Lions Club really appreciate all the items brought to the recycling center.

They are asking us to be sure to sort the items into the proper bins.

A special request is being asked for, they would like everyone to cut out both ends of the steel cans and then flatten them down before bringing to the recycling center to save space and help with the compacting.

Creative Art Contest

VFW Post 8803 Ladies Auxiliary members have invited student in grades 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades to participate in their "Young American Creative Art Contest"

Art work must be received by March 31 to be eligible for judging.

The winner will receive $150 for their work.

This is also open to student that are home schooled.

Pancake supper

Shrove Tuesday, Fat Tuesday or just plain Tuesday, what ever you prefer for Feb. 16.

On Tuesday, Feb. 16, the Tidioute First United Methodist Church will hold their annual Pancake Supper which is open to the public from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m.

Cost is $5 per person.

Choices of pancakes include regular, buckwheat, and blueberry.

There will also be sausage links, scrambled eggs, orange juice, coffee and tea.

Take the night off the kitchen and enjoy a night out for pancakes.

Tax preparation

RSVP, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program would like to remind the resident of Tidioute area that the IRS trained volunteers can help them if they are low income, disabled or seniors, to fill out their Federal, State and local tax forms.

To schedule an appointment at the Tidioute Public Library please call 484-7751 to schedule an appointment on Friday, Feb. 5 and 19; March 5 and 19 and April 2 and 9 from 9a.m. to 2 p.m.

Medical Center

The footer is being poured and it is only a matter of time before the rest of it will begin to materialize.

CBF Contracting, Inc., of Sligo has been busy trying to work around the weather. With temperatures dropping there area some things that cannot be done until it warms up.

Memorial For 2010

The VFW Post 8803 is updating the list of names for the Memorial Day Weekend for 2010 and your help is needed.

Census recruiting

If you are interested in taking a basic skills test required for employment by the Census Bureau, a test site has been established at the Tidioute Firehall on Thursdays at 6 p.m. every Saturday at 10 a.m. and also testing will be done at the Triumph Township Building on Wednesdays at 10 a..m. until further notice.

There are several jobs to be filled and the test only takes one hour to complete and the wages are competitive and are considerably higher than minimum wages. You are also reimbursed for authorized travel.

Tidioute Health Fair

March 27 will be the date for this year's Tidioute Health Fair to be held at the Tidioute Fire Hall from 7 a.m. till 12 noon.

The comprehensive blood test will be done by staff from Warren General Hospital and will include tests for heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, thyroid function, and anemia, liver disease. A fee for these tests will be announced later.

There are several other tests that will be conducted on this day as well. And several vendors will be present to perform several other tests that are free of charge, for such things as bone density, fall and balance,assessments, hearing, blood pressure, height, weight, Doppler screening, eye screening, BMI, just to mention a few.

For an additional fee the men can have the PSA blood test done to check for prostate cancer.

This is a 12-hour fasting blood screening.

50-year celebration

On Sunday, Feb. 7 over 20 members of Sylvania Chapter 102, Order of the Eastern Star gathered at the Tionesta Manor to honor both Anna Motzer and Lorraine Zuendel.

The ladies each received a yellow Rose corsage, a 50 year pin and were accorded the Grand Honors of the Order.

Cake, ice cream, punch, coffee, nuts and mints were served to those who attended.

Members include women from both Tidioute and Tionesta.

Joanne Nuttall of Tidioute is the chapter representative for the Golden Stars and was in charge of the celebration.

Worthy Matron, Carol Luketic presented the ladies with their pins and corsages.
