As far as previews go, Saturday's outdoor show held at Wild Wind Sporters in Starbrick exceeded expectations.
And that sets the stage for a much larger show in 2011.
According to Council of Tourism (COT) director John Papalia, Jr., more than 400 people attended Saturday's show.
"We had a lot of positive feedback from vendors at the show and from attendees," Papalia said. "Everyone that I talked to was in support of a large show for Warren County in 2011."
Papalia said he was able to meet with new contacts during the show that will help in the promotion and planning of a larger outdoor show next year that will stretch over several days. The show would be held inside the Warren Mall.
"The show at Wild Wind Sporters was an outstanding chance to test on a small scale how an outdoor show can attract people, and what the possibilities are for a large scale show next year," Papalia said. "This year's show was a step in the right direction. I'm sure this will grow into a multiple day event for Warren County and will attract thousands of people."
COT worked with the Warren County Visitors' Bureau to plan and promote Saturday's show. The Starbrick Volunteer Fire Department provided chairs and tables for the vendors.
Vendors for Saturday's show included: Somerby Safaris South African Outfitters; Darren Freeborough, coyote trapping; Buck Haven Wildlife; the Pennsylvania Hunting and Fishing Museum; COT and the WCVB; the Disabled American Veterans Association; United Bow Hunters; Killer Calls; Cherry Ridge Hunting Lodge; Allegheny Outfitters; Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club; Gumbo Waterfowl Calls; Trout Unlimited; Bull Runs Sportsman's Club.
A Bow Tech Air Raid bow with accessories provided by Wild Wind Sporters and donated by Nesmith Insurance was won by Tim Wade in a raffle.
The bow was valued at over $1,000.
