Making bodies
The second grade class at TCCS is learning about the different functions of the organs in the human body. Each student made their own life size body and organs.
Tidioute First United Methodist Church will be holding their annual Super Bowl Soup Sales on Sunday, February 7 from noon until the soup is gone.
Soups for take out sales or eat in include: chili, lima bean and ham, chicken noodle, chicken and rice, and vegetable beef.
A 16-ounce container is $4 and a 20-ounce container is $4.50
If you eat in the menu will consist of soup of choice, crackers, dessert and beverage will be $5.
Health kits
Health kits are being assembled at Tidioute First United Methodist Church to be sent to Haiti.
Kits require the following items: one hand towel, one washcloth, one large comb, one metal nail file or nail clippers, one 3 ounce bar of bath soap or larger, one single toothbrush-wrapped, one 4 to 7 ounce toothpaste, six Band-Aids and placed in a one gallon zipper bag.
These will be gathered and sent to the UMCOR headquarters for distribution.

Free throw
Ten boys and girls from Tidioute ages 10 to 14 were named local champions of the 2010 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship and have earned the right to compete at the district level. Council of the Saints # 9304 in Tidioute sponsored the local competition at the Tidioute Community Charter School on January, 29, 2010. All youngsters ages 10 to 14 were eligible to participate.
Winners in the girls division were Lakin Krause age 10, Morgan Hittie age 11, Melissa Craig age 12, Tonya Krause age 13 and in the boys division were Branden Gourley age 10, Jeffery Richards age 11, Brian Fulkner age 12, Curtis Lewis age 13 and Ben Kitelinger age 14.
Each contestant was allowed 15 free throw attempts in the contests. Ties were settled by successive rounds of five free throw per contestant until a winner emerged.
Each of these winners will compete in the district competition to be held on Feb. 7, at the Warren YMCA, with an eye toward moving on to the state and international levels.
Garden shop re-opens
Moore's Garden Shoppe has reopened in time for Valentine Days celebrations.
Now open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Young American
Art Contest
Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 8803 Youth Chairperson Fran Stoneburg has announced the distribution of the rules and entry applications to Art teachers in the area regarding the "Young American Creative Art Contest".
This contest is open to students in grades ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth.
VFW Post 8803 auxiliary will award $150 to the winning entry, and that entry will go on for further judging.
Art must be received by March 31 for Post judging.
Home-schooled students are also eligible to enter this contest.

RSVP tax sites
RSVP, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, would like to remind the residents of the Tidioute Area that IRS trained volunteers can help them with their tax preparation if they are low income, disabled or seniors for filing their Federal, State, and local tax forms at Tidioute Public Library, 197 Main Street.
Please call the RSVP Office at 723-7751 to schedule an appointment.
Scheduling will take place on Fridays, Feb. 5 and 19; March 5 and 19; April 2 and 9 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Lenten lunches
Once again the Tidioute Area will observe the traditional Lenten lunches.
All lunches will be held on Wednesday at noon at the following churches.
Feb. 24 at the Presbyterian Church, March 3 at St. John Church, March 10 at First United Methodist Church, March 17 at Presbyterian Church, March 24 at St. John Church and March 31 at the First United Methodist Church.
This schedule is subject to change so please watch this column each Wednesday to confirm the location of these Lenten lunches.
They are free of charge and are open to anyone who wishes to attend regardless of your faith.
Shrove Tuesday
Pancake Supper
There will be a pancake supper at the Tidioute First United Methodist Church on Shrove Tuesday, Feb. 16 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dinner will consist of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links and beverage.
Cost is $5 per person. This is open to all who wish to come and enjoy fresh pancakes, Bring your family members and friends and dine together.
Tidioute Health Fair
Sign up has begun for the Annual Tidioute Health Fair held on Saturday, March 27, at the Tidioute Fire Hall.
This is sponsored by Warren General Hospital in conjunction with Tidioute Area Fire Department.
All blood drawn will be done by Warren General Hospital Medical Staff.

Tidioute Health
and Dental Center
Workers have been busy digging the footer area to prepare it for the concrete for the retaining wall.
Temperatures have been a concern lately as it has to be at the right temperature and holding for the concrete to cure properly.
Work will continue as weather permits.
Borough Council
Tidioute Borough Council will meet on Monday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.at the Tidioute Towers in the Community Room.
Game Feast
The Wild Game Feast held at Tippy Canoe on Sunday, Jan. 31 was a very good success.
Frank and Roxanne would like to thank everyone for the support.
Family Game Night
Members of the Tidioute First United Methodist Church are once again having Family Game Night.
The next one will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27 beginning at 5:30 with a Pot Luck Supper.
Those attending should bring a dish to share.
Games will follow the supper and if you have a favorite board game please bring it with you.
There is no charge to attend.
Your whole family, friends and neighbors are welcome to attend.
