Lela G. "Zeb" Martin, 60, of Swede Road, Tidioute, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at home surrounded by her family following a two year battle with cancer.

She was born April 23, 1948, a daughter of the late William and Frances Eckert Atkin and lived in Tidioute her whole life. She was a member of the 1966 Class of Tidioute High School, and was a nurse all her life, last working at the Rouse Warren County Home as a RN. She was a former member of the Tidioute First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and most of all her grandchildren.

Zeb is survived by her husband, James Martin, whom she married Dec. 14, 1965; a daughter, Mrs. Michael ( Jessica ) Call, Tionesta; three sons, Eli Martin and his wife Toni, Eric and Jason Martin, all of Tidioute; and eight grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Karen Atkin, Tidioute and Janet Marques, Lander; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the James M. Higgins Funeral Home, 3 Elm Street, Tidioute, Friday, January 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend services to be held in the Tidioute First United Methodist Church Saturday morning, January 2 at 11 a.m. with past Pastor John Gerber officiating.

Interment will follow in Swedish Union Cemetery, Tidioute.
