The Warren County Commissioners passed a 2010 budget Wednesday, holding the line on taxes for another year.
The budget passed with an unanimous vote and little discussion.
"The only public comment I received was they were pleased there was not a tax increase," said Commissioner Chairman John Eggleston.
Commissioner Terry Hawk indicated that the commissioners' job was to save as much money as they could while "still doing a good job."
He added, "It has not been easy."
The commissioners expressed gratitude to county fiscal director Toby Rohlin and his staff for their role in the budgeting process and helping the county stick to the spending plan developed each year.
During his fiscal report, Rohlin estimated the remaining fund balance for 2009 at $770,000 after payment of various bills and payroll for the last week of the year.
"It's a little bit higher than we estimated in the budget," Rohlin said.
In other business, the commissioners passed a resolution to sign the 2010 tax anticipation note. The winning bidder for tax anticipation loan of $3.5 million was PNC Bank at an interest rate of 1.96 percent. Eggleston said the agreement will be signed on Jan. 4.
The commissioners also:
re-appointed Jeri Fox, Debbie Haines and Ed Sekerak to the Agricultural Land Preservation Board.
re-appointed Jack Angove as chairman of the Agricultural Land Preservation Board.
re-appointed Gene Wiler to the Warren County Redevelopment Authority.
re-appointed Joanna Freeburg to the Warren County Planning Commission.
re-appointed Lee Curtis to the Warren County Zoning Hearing Board.
approved a contract with the Bair Foundation, of New Wilmington, Pa., for foster services rendered to Warren-Forest Human Services.
Hawk commented on how many volunteers are re-appointed to various board positions by the commissioners.
"That's a credit to Warren County," he said.
Eggleston concluded the last meeting of the year with a New Year's wish.
"A wish of hope for everyone in Warren County to have a very good New Year," he said.
