Crash. Warren-based state police reported Kyle M. Wise, 22, Sugar Grove, was driving a 2002 Freightliner Sprinter north on Keller Road at 7:25 p.m. Dec. 18. According to police, a deer came from the right shoulder bank, jumping in front of the Wise's vehicle. Police reported the vehicle was unable to stop prior to striking the deer, due to the snow-covered roadway. According to police, the vehicle received disabling damage to the front passenger-side bumper, grill and front quarter panel area. Police reported a transmission line running through the front portion of the vehicle was also broken as a result of the impact. According to police, the vehicle was towed from the scene. Police said the driver was not injured or charged.
Dog Bite. Conewango Township police reported Julie Flatt was taking her dogs for a walk on White Avenue at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 26. According to police, while Flatt was walking by the McWhirter Residence at 111 Jackson Run Rd., a Pitbull/Chow mix owned by Michael McWhirter leaped its fence and attacked Flatt's dog. Police reported as a result of the attack, Flatt's dog sustained several puncture marks to its neck and was treated at the Russell vet office. According to police, McWhirter was subsequently charged with harboring a dangerous animal.
Aggravated assault. Warren-based state police reported Lindsey Dale, 31, 831 Benjamin Lane, Warren, became involved in a domestic dispute with a male, 28, Warren. According to police, during the dispute, Dale began throwing items from the kitchen at the victim. Police reported Dale then grabbed a large kitchen knife and told the victim she was going to kill him. According to police, Dale then made movements towards the victim while still holding the knife. Police said Dale was taken into custody and is facing charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment. According to police, Dale was arraigned before District Magistrate Laura Bauer and remanded to the Warren County Jail in lieu of $5,000 straight cash bail.
Farmington Twp.
Crash. Warren-based state police reported Francis J. Franklin, 61, Russell, was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram east on Route 957 when he fell asleep at 4:08 p.m. Dec. 26. According to police, the vehicle crossed the center line entering the westbound lane. Police reported the vehicle traveled off the westbound lane approximately 80 ft. where initial impact was made with a mailbox. Police reported the vehicle continued to travel east approximately 152 ft. and struck a utility pole where it stopped. According to police, Franklin said he was not injured and was wearing his seatbelt. Police reported charges are pending in district court. Police said they were assisted at the scene by Russell Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service. According to police, Franklin was charged with careless driving.
Mead Twp.
Crash. Warren-based state police reported a juvenile was driving a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo east on Route 59 at 3 p.m. Dec. 25. According to police, the Rodeo was attempting to negotiate a gradual right curve when the vehicle spun around 360 degrees, prior to going off the left shoulder of the roadway. Police reported the juvenile then counter-steered, bringing the vehicle back onto the roadway, subsequently sliding head-on into a ditch off the right shoulder. According to police, the vehicle received moderate damage to the front bumper, grill and hood area and had a flat driver-side front tire. Police said the juvenile was able to drive the vehicle from the scene after changing the tire. Police said, PennDOT maintenance was notified of the slippery road conditions.
Pine Grove Twp.
DUI. Warren-based state police reported Ronald Joseph Ferino, 30, Jamestown N.Y., was driving a 1990 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 south on Stanton Hill Road at a speed too fast for road conditions at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 24. According to police, Ferino lost control of his vehicle and slid sideways into the oncoming lane of travel and into the front of a 2006 Hummer H3 driven by Justin T. Demontier, 16, Russell with passenger Brian T. Demontier, 46, Russell and passenger Barbara L. Demontier, 45, Russell. Police reported the Hummer H3 was traveling north on Stanton Hill Road prior to the crash. According to police, upon investigating the crash it was determined that Ferino was under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested for DUI. Police reported only Barbara L. Demontier suffered minor injury and no one involved required transport to the hospital. According to police, Russell VFD assisted at the scene. Police reported both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Pleasant Twp.
Burglary. Warren-based state police reported someone broke into the house of Kenneth Allen Pierce, Warren, and stole a jar of U.S. currency valued at approximately $300 between Dec. 21 and Dec. 24. According to police, any person with information on this incident can call Warren-based state police.
Southwest Twp.
Crash. Warren-based state police reported Michelle Carr, 34, Warren was driving north on Titusville Enterprise Road with a male passenger, 13, Warren, and a female passenger, 7, Warren at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 26. According to police, Carr was traveling at a speed too fast for the road conditions at the time, and lost control of the vehicle. Police reported the vehicle left the east side of the road and struck an embankment which caused it to roll over onto its driver's side. According to police, the vehicle continued to slide north in the northbound lane on its driver's side for approximately 65 ft. Police reported the vehicle then spun around and was facing south in the northbound lane when it stopped. According to police, all three occupants in the vehicle were transported to Titusville Area Hospital for minor injuries, and have been released. Police reported Grand Valley and Pleasantville VFDs assisted at the scene.
