Presbyterian Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve Candlelight Services will be held at the Tidioute Presbyterian Church at 8p.m.
All are welcome to come.
Christmas Eve Services
Tidioute First United Methodist Church will hold Christmas Eve Services at 11p.m. Dec. 24.
There will be a social hour at 10 p.m. before the 11 p.m. service.
These services are open to all who wish to come and join in the festivities of this Christmas Season.
St John/St Anthony
Christmas Eve Services for ST John Church will be at 10 p.m. and Christmas Day Mass will be at 11 a.m.
St Anthony Christmas Eve services will be at 6:30 p.m. and Christmas Day Mass will be at 9 a.m.
Holiday lighting
winners
Judging for the Holiday Lighting Contest for residents was done on Thursday, December 16.
Winners are as follows: First Place went to Clay and Heather Cass, 185 Main ST; Second Place went to Cory and Lynn Nicholson, 195 Main ST; Third Place went to Nancy and Connor Coughlin of 261 Main ST;Honorable mention went to Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Williams, 316 Main ST; and Mr. and Mrs. John Prenkey Tidioute Creek Rd.
The Holiday Lighting Committee would like to thank everyone who decorated their homes for the Holiday, The Firemen for their help in putting up the strings of lights, the borough employees for their help and those who volunteered their time to tie the greens.
It is all very much appreciated and they want to thank all for their very generous donations, which makes it possible for the committee to function.
For a small community they have done an outstanding job at decorating. Congratulations and thank you to all for your hard work.
Santa's visit
Polly's ShurSave Market had a special visit from Santa on Saturday, December 19 for the children of the community.
Each one who visited with Santa received a candy cane and a bag of other delicious Christmas treats.
Anthony Sabella, age 4, son of Denny and Nicole Sabella and grandson of Mike Sahli, and Jordan Leach, age 18 months, son of Tiffany Leach and grandson of Denny and Polly Nicholson were the first two to visit with Santa on Saturday. Sahli and Nicholson's are the owners of the market.
Knights of Columbus
Tidioute Knights of Columbus Council # 9304 is a Columbian Award winner for the 2008-2009 fraternal year. The award is presented for excellence in the sponsorship of programs that serve the Church, community, families, and youth-as well as council members.
The announcement was made by the Knights of Columbus International Headquarters located in New Haven, CT. Charles Mahood, District Deputy 85 presented the engraved plaque to the council at a special ceremony held on December 3, 2009.
Supreme Knight Carl Anderson, president of the International Organization, in recognizing the local winner, said, "Please accept my sincere congratulations on attaining this prestigious award. The dedication to the Order shown by your council is seen in the high standard of excellence you have achieved. At the same time, I encourage you to carry forward this enthusiasm to meet the challenges that will face the Knights of Columbus in the years ahead. May this award be a reminder and an inspiration to the members of your council to continue to promote the ideals of Columbianism for the good of the Church, your community, and the Order".
In accepting the award, Grand Knight, Howard Klingenberg, head of the Tidioute council, said "Receiving this award is quite an honor. We're very pleased with this accomplishment."

Card shower
A Card Shower is being held for Peggy Joseph who is now a patient at ST Vincent Hospital, 232 W. 26th ST, Erie, PA 16544 Room 6212.
Joseph had been in the Intensive Care Unit and was moved to another room on Sunday afternoon.
Christmas Cards and Get well cards are both a great idea to brighten her days.
Free parking
Tidioute residents and visitors will have free parking from Dec. 21 till January 4, 2010

Garbage Pick Up
The usual pick up day is Thursday, Dec. 24, so please be sure to have those bags of garbage at the curb on Thursday morning.
Gerus entertains
Ruth Gerus, a member of the Tidioute Senior Center entertained her friends and fellow members of the Tidioute Senior Center last week by playing her accordion for them prior to lunch being served.
