Letters To Editor

Taxes

POSTED: December 22, 2009

Dear editor:

Do I understand this right?

Untaxed cigarettes to Pennsylvania - No.

Untaxed clothing to New York - OK.

Untaxed everything to U.S.A. (NAFTA) - OK.

Let's have Governor Rendell budget for a border checkpoint/patrol to stop these cigarette bootleggers. We could finance this by reducing government by 50 percent.

Jan Bosak, Pittsfield

Wallon, honey, take the caps lock off, then type. Yelling doesn't do anything but make you look like you are totally out of control. The Border Patrol can confiscate your cigarettes if you get them from the reservation. I mean if you buy many cartons, that usually means you will be reselling them. Jan must be a heavy smoker.....LOL

I AGREE WITH BOSAK ABOUT THE REDUCTION OF GOVERNMENT BUT NOT THE CHECK POINTS WHICH I BELIEVE ARE IN OUR FUTURE..I BELIEVE THAT SOON STATES WILL CHARGE MOTORISTS TO DRIVE TO OR THROUGH THEIR VENUE

Not only is this a terribly written "letter," I can't figure out the point Writer Jan is trying to make. If it's an attempt at humour or hyperbole, it misses the mark even further. A little more thought and a little less PBR next time.
