Assault. According to Warren-based state police, on Dec. 11 at 9:05 p.m., Buddy J. Steadman, 32, punched Terry A. Wolfe, 53, and Michael T. Smoot, 36, at the Warren State Hospital, 33 Main Dr., causing injuries to both which required medical attention. Steadman will answer to charges at a later date in front of District Magistrate Laura Bauer, police said.

Freehold Twp.

Accident. Warren-based state police responded to a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 6 and Swamp Road at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday. According to police, Diane Schipani, 47, Pittsfield, had stopped the school bus she was driving, with the bus' signals activated, to pick up a child. Police said Stephen Sponenburgh, 68, Youngsville, stopped his 1998 Honda CRV behind the school bus, but Thomas Minski, 61, Erie, failed to observe the stopped vehicles and his 2005 Nissan Xterra struck the rear end of Sponenburgh's vehicle. Police said Sponenburgh's vehicle then struck the rear of the school bus. Police said Sponenburgh's vehicle and the bus were towed from the scene; Minski drove his vehicle from the scene. According to police, Corry Ambulance transported Sponenburgh to Warren General Hospital with minor injuries. State police were assisted at the scene by Wrightsville and Bear Lake volunteer firefighters.

Arrested. Warren County Sheriff's deputies arrested Christopher Hale, 30, 371 Sherwood Dr., at 9:30 p.m. Dec. 14 on a Domestic Relations bench warrant issued by the Warren County Court of Common Pleas for failure to appear for court. Hale was placed in the Warren County Prison pending further court action.

Pleasant Twp.

Theft. Warren-based state police arrested Ronald Eck, 54, Youngsville, at 1:04 a.m. Dec. 15 for theft by unlawful taking. According to police, Eck took a Lasko Cyclonic ceraminc heater, valued at $99, and six Italian Spread gift sets, valued at $239.70, from the Blair Distribution Center in Irvine.
