Elinor Virginia Anderson Songer, 90, of 4 Hyatt Drive, Warren, died at home on December 13, 2009. She was the widow of Charles Songer.
She was born on January 22, 1919 at the family farm on Lake Pleasant Road in Erie, a daughter of the late Asa L. and Elsie E. Secor Anderson.
She moved her family from Erie to Youngsville in late 1959 where she owned and operated Youngsville Dry Cleaners as well as a Health Food Store for many years. She was a skillful seamstress, enjoyed playing crokinole, pinochle, poker, dominoes and Scrabble as well as being an avid crossword puzzle buff. In her younger days she also enjoyed writing poetry and oil painting.
She is survived by a daughter, Debra (Kenneth) Summer of Warren, a son Douglas (Lois) of Texas, their children, Michelle, Michael, and Stephen, two sisters, Ethel Downs of Mansfield, OH, and Betty Woodruff of Erie, as well as one brother, Howard Anderson of Erie. She is also survived by four greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Josh Mickelson in May 1997, and her brothers, Leroy, Dalton, Lee, Alan and Robert Anderson.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made to the "Close to the Heart Transplant Support Group" care of Debra Summer, 4 Hyatt Drive, Warren, Hospice of Warren County, or a favorite charity.
