Duane Gordon Spicer, 82, of 2910 Rt. 957, Russell, PA., passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 surrounded by his family at Golden Living Kinzua Valley after an extended illness.

Mr. Spicer was born May 24, 1927, in Warren, the son of the late Emerson and Nina Wagner Spicer. Mr. Spicer was a 1947 graduate of Lander High School and had served in the US Navy Seebees. Duane was known as a "Jack of all trades"and also for his mechanical skills. He once owned the Keystone Gas Station in Russell. He was also employed at the former Walker Creamery in Warren, and retired from the Blair Corp in 1989. Duane was an avid bowler and horseshoe pitcher. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, gardening, mowing the lawn, and his John Deere tractors. Duane raised, trained and raced homing pigeons, where he received many 1st places, was a member of the Northwest Pa. Pigeon Flying Club a member of the Sunshine Bowling League and a past member of the Warren Co. Horseshoe League.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce Stanton Spicer, whom he married on October 27, 1951; a son, Michael Spicer and his wife Donna, Warren; two daughters, Rita Kelly and her husband Eddie, Russell, and Deborah Raymond and her husband Don, Frewsburg, six grandchildren, Christina Miller Pitts, Concord, NC, Jason Raymond and Steven Raymond and his wife Alicia, both of Jamestown, NY, Andrew (Jaime ) Weilacher, currently serving in Iraq, Bradley Weilacher, and Levi Kelly, Russell; six greatgrandchildren, Evan and Ethan Pitts, Lauren, Steven Jr., Mason Raymond and Eli Weilacher.; two Sisters Barbara Ekey of Russell, Erma Thelin, Warren: two brothers Emerson Spicer, Warren and Francis Spicer of Russell and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Asa Spicer.

Friends will be received at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Friday, December 11, 2009, from 24 and 68 pm. A funeral and committal service will be held there on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 11:00 am with Rev. Wade Barto, pastor, Lander United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the Thompson Hill Cemetery.

Memorial donations maybe made to the Russell or Lander Vol. Fire Depts, Hospice of Warren Co. or to the Warren Cancer Center.
