A camp outside of Tidioute was destroyed by fire early Saturday evening.

Tidioute Area volunteer firefighters responded at approximately 6:35 p.m. to the blaze at an unoccupied camp in the 170 block area of Kerney Road in Triumph Township.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Jack Fulkman, the structure was totally involved by the time the first responders arrived on scene.

"(The structure) was almost on the ground...well, it was on the ground," he said.

With most of the structure already consumed by the flames, it only took the crew less than a half an hour to get the fire under control.

The caused of the fire was unknown at the time. However, Fulkman indicated that the incident will be investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal.

Tidioute firefighters were assisted at the scene by volunteer firefighters from Garland and Grand Valley while West Hickory firefighters were placed on stand-by.
