Margaret S. Darling, 90, of 682 Pleasant Dr. and formerly of Jackson Run Road and the Crary Home, Warren, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Warren Manor.
Margaret was born December 15, 1918, in Kane, the daughter of the late James and Rena Johnson Speer. She grew up in and attended school in Smethport, Pa. She had worked at Porters Children's Shop, Grace Aberg's Dress Shop in downtown Warren and also worked as a cashier for several years at Warren General Hospital from which she retired in 1981. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the Audubon Society. Margaret enjoyed her family, bowling and golfing and spending precious time on the family owned Speer Island, Ontario, Canada.
She is survived by, her devoted husband of thirty four years, Roy G. Darling, whom she married on December 31, 1974; a son, Robert B. Johnson and his wife Susanne, Plymouth, Mass.; two daughters, Susan L. Wolfe and her husband, Ken, Warren, and Stacey A. Hughes and her husband Charles, Steelton, Pa.; a stepson, LeRoy Darling and his wife JoAnn, Sugar Grove, Pa., five grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband of thirtyone years, Willard Johnson in 1971, whom she married in 1940; two brothers, Robert Speer and Phillip Speer, and a sister Susannah Badenoch.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
