Three plead guilty in Central Court

Three people entered guilty pleas, another was bound over in absentia and charges against another were withdrawn Wednesday during Warren County Central Court proceedings before District Magistrate Laura Bauer.

The following defendants entered guilty pleas:

Jade Evonne Morrison, 509 Water St., to disorderly conduct. Counts of criminal trespass and resisting arrest were not prosecuted.

Jenny Lynn Scalise, 5 Nesmith St., to summary counts of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Heather Nichole Smith, 413 Rankin St., to selling or furnishing liquor or malt or brewed beverages to minors. A count of corruption of minors was not prosecuted.

Michele Renee Snider, 1104 Pennsylvania Avenue E., was bound over in absentia for counts of theft by deception and bad checks.

The following were withdrawn:

Dawn Marie Mortin, 545 W. Church St., Corry, for counts of theft by unlawful taking or disposition and retail theft.

I guess Michele was too busy to show up in Court. They should make her sentence even harder, since she could not take time out from her busy day to be there.

I'm no lawyer, but "in absentia" always sounds like the person will be sentenced "in absentia". Wonder if they do time "in absentia?"
