Kathleen Reed McAvoy, daughter of Mike and Barb McAvoy of Warren, and Rory Joseph Makielski, son of Dr. Jonathan and Deirdre Makielski of Madison, Wisc., have announced their engagement.
Both are 2006 graduates of the University of Notre Dame, earning their bachelor of science degrees in biology. Kathleen received a master's in forensic biology from the University at Albany State University of New York and is currently employed at the University of Rochester Medical Center as a medical technologist. Rory attends the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and will graduate in May 2010 with a degree in medicine.
A May 22, 2010, wedding is planned at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Warren.
