Leadership Warren topic
The featured speaker at the Nov. 16 meeting of the Woman's Club of Warren was Jim Goodling, director of "Leadership Warren County." This highly successful program is now in its third year. It is an educational program devoted to fostering community involvement in the student participants. The commitment by the participants is not one taken lightly. Classes meet from September through April, and there is a tuition charged. Many local businesses send promising students to the program. The students learn all there is to know about Warren County from its history and architecture to the variety of businesses, from farming to factories. The cultural and tourism benefits of the county are explored. Basically, Leadership graduates know more about Warren County than anyone.
A unique feature of the course is "the year end project." Participants hone skills learned and put them to use. Familiar successful projects include the ARTS program, the Council on Tourism and the PA-Kinzua Pathways. At the end of this year there will be 37 graduates of the program, all of whom are working to make Warren County a better place to live and work.
Hostesses for the event were Tana Fegely and Helen VanNorden. The tables were set with embroidered linen placemats and matching napkins. Decorations consisted of bowls of flowering kale, pumpkins and pilgrims.
President Kathy Masterson announced that tickets for What's New for the Holidays are available. Interested members met Nov. 18 to decorate the club for the holidays. Fegely thanked all who brought food for the drive. Karen Davis would like to know of prospective new members.
The next meeting will be Nov. 30 and will feature Elsa Redding, director of Hospice of Warren County, who will talk about the new John and Orpha Blair Hospice Residence. Reservations can be made by calling the club at 723-5910.
